Came in for a quick drink and a meal and was not disappointed. Beer was lovely and cold, had the air con cranking, which suited us on such a hot day! Had the classic burger in the Bar/TAB area and the lady (Sherry) who served us was great! Very friendly and helpful. A little pricey for a burger at $16, but it was still delicious anyway. Would recommend lowering prices but definitely coming back.
Had dinner Friday 27th. One family member is vegan. No choice. Wedges, seasonal veges, of which there were 2! Beans and broccolini. No tomatoes on the margarita pizza. Sauce and basil leaves only. Steak was good. Meals too expensive and it is still too dark! Service was good.
I understand that this is just a pub and that is all I expect from this area but if you guys are going to charge real restaurant prices, then atleast put some effort into the food, it seemed as though most things are bought in… seriously.. how hard would it be to make duck spring rolls yourself?? And serving them with pesto from a jar and ABC sauce?? Come on!!!! Who’s the culinary genius to come up with that combination? The food is bad and extremely over priced for bought in and randomly thrown together ingredients… it is just ridiculous. And service? Completely none existent, we had to go up to the register to order food, I had to repeat my order about 5 times.. seriously, how hard is does it have to be to order 3 ‘entres and 3 mains? I think the ‘waiter’ was either hungover or high for sure. Then you have to order drinks and pay immediately, no running tab or anything.. if you want dessert, coffee or another beer, you have to go up to the register, order and pay again and again, they don’t wait on tables here! So to say that this establishment is a ‘restaurant’ seems a little unrealistic. Much improvement is needed here… ALOT!!!
Best thing i can say, the beer is cold. Waited 45 minutes for three lunch meals. When we went up to question where our meal was the staff were rude tgough they had sent our meal to the wrong table and then proceeded to advise us we had to wait. No apology as it must have been our fault. Due to the rudeness of the staff we did not get to sample their food as i choose to leave with a refund. Will not return and i will be advising friends, family and collegues of the sams. Poor effort
A little disappointed but willing to go again.. We chose a lovely table out the front of Hogan’s as it was so dark inside, I really wanted to be able to see my food. Started with the duck spring rolls and my partner had the oysters. Duck was nice but oysters were a wee bit small. Seafood lasagne for main was okay and my partners ribeye was cooked just as he asked and he enjoyed it. My main bugbear when eating out is when the mains are bought to the table when the entrees haven’t been finished and unfortunately this happened at Hogans. We thought the meals were a tad overpriced but will go back as I’ve heard the pizzas are great.
Visited with friends and had a lovely lunch, went back for dinner a few nights later and was not disappointed! Lovely staff, and very accommodating. Sherry the manager was amazing with helping us choose the dish for my mother who has Celiac disease her knowledge of the menu and ingredients was fantastic, the chefs were so accommodating for us. They obviously get a lot of regular customers as the staff seem to know a lot by name and were very friendly 🙂 Menu is good old fashioned pub food. I had the eye fillet which was cooked just how I like it, my husband had the seafood plate and it was great. Sizes are large, could probably be smaller, some dishes were a little pricey but with large portions we didn’t mind. Would definitely recommend going for a nice lunch and sitting on the deck outside it overlooks the water and is so nice.
We booked a table and were given a corner table, which was meant to be more quiet. It was so dark we could hardly see our meals. We asked for a large Arancini as an entree to share. 40 minutes after we ordered we received a small Arancini and all the main meals together. I pointed out the error. They apologised and brought the additional Arancini and gave me a free drink. I was very happy with my barramundi which came with the traditional chips and salad. The kids’ meal was nuggets and chips. It came with vegetables which was a thumbs up. Another of the party ordered lasagne. She didn’t like it at all and said that it just didn’t taste like lasagne. She left it and ate the Arancini instead. Overall, we believed the restaurant was too dark, the meals were too expensive, the meals were also too large and the wait was too long. We won’t be hurrying back.
