Avid Reader Bookshop and Cafe is just that, a quaint bookshop with a nice little cafe at the rear.Above average Iced Latte (3.5), but $6 for a Fruit Toast is pretty steep, especially when it tastes like normal fruit toast (3). You can also pick up a bag of Avid Espresso coffee beans for takeaway.
I was in West End visiting my soon to be new home in close by Highgate Hill. It was a steamy hot day in Brisbane. As I walking past, I noted this place had air conditioning, so I decided to escape the heat and pop in. At the back of book shop, there is a delightful little cafe. At the friendly cook’s suggestion, I ordered the cheese and veg pizza. When it arrived I was blown away. It looked amazing. And quite frankly, the taste sensation matched the way it looked. The base was smeared generously with pesto and blue and feta cheese. The topping was bits of crumbled blue and feta cheese. On top of all this was fresh mint and rocket salad.
Amazing food and service. The price and value of the food is impeccable, would absolutely rave to anyone looking at having a nice (cost friendly) breakfast/lunch. Will definitely be coming back.
