Despite the reviews, we thought wed give this place a try considering there was a 50% off Dimmi promo. On a positive note the waitresses were friendly and service was fast. The food on the other hand needs improvement. We ordered the assiette goumande which was a prawn, scallop, prosciutto and baguette platter. The platter was okay, prawns were cooked well but scallops over cooked and bread stale and chips with aioli. The mains we ordered were lobster linguine and Moreton Bay Bug with cream and truffle oil. The lobster linguine was average, more on the bland side. Both were very generous in size but flavours could be improved. The Moreton Bay bug (normally $42) was disappointing. The Moreton Bay bugs were tough, dry and unpleasant and there was no flavour of truffle whatsoever, just cream.
I had dinner here on Saturday and we had a good time. The food didnt take us all the way to France but it was enjoyable. For entrees my partner had the steak tartar and I had a dish. He said it was good, it had a hit of capsicum. The dish came with a big bowl of chips (yay for me) and a side salad. My entree was the platter with prawns and prosciutto. I enjoyed the prawns but there were only two smaller ones. The dishes were big- we were getting full after entree. For mains, the mushroom gnocchi was for me the best dish. The sauce was creamy and well seasoned. The barramundi too was well cooked and the sauce delicious. They were out of the Paris mash which I was looking forward too, and swapped it out for scalloped potatoes instead. We didnt have enough room for dessert as the main and entree were big. We both enjoyed our French wine. Overall- we like others were in on a deal so it was obviously bang for buck. However, I think if they cut those out and lowered prices a little bit, people would expect less and come along more. My fish was delicious and I would have been happy paying $25-30, but not $40. Will I be back? For the gnocchi and to try the Paris mash, yes. I wish I could give 3.5
