Awesome venue. Highly recommend A Devils Avocate cocktail. That macadamia nut cream they use is delicious. All their cocktails pack a punch, even if the descriptions might make them sound sweet. Trust me! Everything we ordered was delicious, except for the jalapeo poppers. Don’t order them, they were flavourless. Stand out was the pate, short rib gems and Mexican pizza. They could do some work at the back, heaps of festoon lights blown up and not working.

I bloody love Canvas. I used to live nearby and am so sad to have recently moved. I’ve been for drinks here many times – the cocktail menu is so extensive and inventive – there’s something for everyone! My dad and I visited for lunch earlier this week, it was super quiet, almost had the place to ourselves. I’ve no idea why as the food is as great as the cocktails. I had a pumpkin pizza, it was so huge I said to my dad as it arrived at our table that there’s no way I could eat it all, but turns out it was so delicious that with a little bit of his help I managed to demolish it. Whoops! Dad had a burger and he was happy with it also.

Average food average drinks. Menu didn’t provide many food options. One of my group was pregnant so asked for non alcoholic versions of the cocktails however received very plain options with no flavored. Went one year ago and it was amazing. Not sure what happened in the year.

Canvas is one of those places which makes you so happy you want to die. Starting from the lovely ambience to the friendly staff to the absolutely lip smacking food, there couldn’t have been a better dining experience. We started off with a cute little bucket of skinny fries, and followed it with the jalapeo poppers and the mini vegetarian burritos. This place is an absolutely treat for vegetarians. The jalapeo poppers with cream cheese and a balsamic dressing were just the right balance of tangy, hot and sweet at the same time. The chickpeas in the mini burritos was a welcome change from the usual black beans! Such a fresh little platter of burritos! The dessert, ah! We opted for the tasting platter which lets you choose three desserts on it. We picked the clockwork orange, the French Connection and Sweet Caroline. The orange cake was so yummy it made me cry. The brownie was the best guilty pleasure I’ve had till date. Everything about that cheesecake was to die for. I love you Canvas! I’m a fan and I’ll keep coming back!

We visited Canvas on a Tuesday night to try their $10 tapas and tequila cocktails prior to my friend hosting her 30th there. We tried the prawn and chorizo, pork belly, arrancini, calamari and the chicken wings with smokey chipotle aioli. The arrancini balls were disappointing, the rice was a bit gluey and there was quite a lot of cheese and lacked some seasoning. However, they were still nice, but when comparing them to the other amazing dishes, they fell short. The pork belly melted in our mouths and we fought over the last piece! The chicken was good, but the smokey chipotle sauce really made it. The calamari was perfectly cooked and the prawn and chorizo dish also saw us arguing over who had had more. The staff were friendly and made us some delicious cocktails. Initially their service was great but as the night wore on (mind you we left at 930) their eagerness waned. We were offered dessert and told our waiter we would look then order, we are still waiting for them to take our dessert order. For $80 including 2 cocktails and one mocktail, the three of us left full and my friend was even happier in her choice of venue for her birthday.

Great place. Good value for money. You’ve totally got to respect an establishment that serves breakfast cocktails. Staff were relaxed and friendly. Will def be back.

Service is friendly and helpful, the tapas is superb (try the garlic prawns and the chicken skewers, both amazing), and the cocktail/drink list is exhaustive and delightful. Parking is sometimes difficult on busy nights, it’s just a little more expensive than you might expect, and I’d personally change some of the decor, but these are very minor issues. Overall a winner.
