The best part about the Gabba Bakery and Cafe are the Bacon and Cheese Sausage Rolls. Greasy, but delicious! The cakes and cookies are extremely sweet and not to my liking, nor are the pies. The bread and bread rolls are ok.
Discovered this bakery while I was having the coffee at Gabi Caf., sowent there to try the next day. It located just next to the Cole supermarket with quite eye-catching display cabinets. Ordered a Steak & Chilli Pie (first time to see such pie) and a flat white. Aroma coffee is one of my favourite and it did not me down, whereas the pie was a bit of surprise. Initially, when I looked at the pie, I found that it is higher than its kind in other places and the pastry looked a bit thick. However, I loved it at the first bite, the steak really mixed with fresh chilli (definitely, the Vietnamese owner of the bakery is a chilli-over), it was hot but I liked it. The pastry was purposefully done slightly thicker to hold the rich content. I still could not forget the feeling from the mixture of pastry with the hot chilli juicy steak……. If you are chilli-lover, I urge you to try…..
They serve simple, original bakery items here. By that I mean things like scones & neenish tarts, cinnamon scrolls, sausage rolls, pies etc etc, things you used to see years ago in all bakeries. The portion sizes here though are mega. The sausage rolls are just huge as are the pies. They also do coffee but I had already indulged in my fix earlier
Was after a spinach roll but they don’t do them, so grabbed a Veggie Pie instead and definitely no regrets. Held together well with nice pastry and is quite a deep pie plus you can’t taste the individual ingredients (note:the massive chunk of carrot). Would eat again. 🙂
