Ordered one of the bento sets available on the takeaway menu and it tastes AMAZING! best bento I’ve had so far-10/10 would recommend. Theres 2 tempura prawns, 2 spring rolls, 2 gyoza, 2 salmon nigiri, a few pieces of katsu with rice and pickles-All for $15.
NOTE: lunch sushi plates are now $3.50 each and not $3.Due to the good reviews (albeit not so good score) we decided to try Manna out. The menu was covered in soy sauce but we decided to overlook it. We got the aburi, salmon and avocado, fatty salmon and karaage udon. The rice for the sushi was hard and was not made well so it fell apart before it could even reach our mouths. The servings were quite small. The udon was served in a plastic bowl even though we were dining in. The soup tasted like it was full of MSG and the chicken was very soggy and batter was too flour-y. The music in the restaurant was reminiscent of elevator music and was obnoxiously loud for a Monday afternoon. We will not return again and would recommend Sushi Edo for those who want cheap and good sushi.
Found a hidden gem along Woolloongabba!! ‘Salmon Buffet’ ($26/p):1) Salmon Nigiri, Aburi, sushi roll, sashimi platter2) Korean pancake topped with chives3) Gourmet mixed tempura (tempura prawn, vegetarian spring rolls, crab crouquet, mozarella stick, battered fish, beer battered chips4) Korean style salmon donburi with chilli paste vinegar dressing. Wowza, for a small shop, they have such great quality food! My favourite out of the four dishes would be the korean pancake. It was the most perfect korean pancake that I have had in years!! Crisp and contained all the original flavours!! Okay, I know right? Why did she choose the korean pancake over the sashimi? Quite impossible?! Well a few bones were found in the sashimi pieces which made me take tiny nibbles which was quite annoying for me since I have a phobia of tiny bones in food (need to be a tad cautious, but aside from that everything was ineffable!!) We will be coming back here again!
Under New Management & the Food/Service is great now! Air conditioned comfort. All plates are $3 & they have Bowl + drink deals for under $10. Would throughly recommend to all!
Best sushi place in Brisbane. Great vibe, friendly staff and good prices. Sushi is fresh, there’s a train or order off the menu. And not only sushi either, other delicious Japanese dishes too.
Was last here a few months ago, and at that point it seemed better than Hana Sushi (nearby on a perpendicular road). On a return visit, it seems to have gone backwards, unfortunately. Some of the nicer menu items they used to have, like chirashi and agadeshi tofu, are gone. They now do $3.50 a plate sushi, and other rice and udon items. We ordered some sushi off the menu, as the ones that looked to be of interest weren’t going around on the conveyor belt. Unfortunately the slices of fish were thin, and when flame was applied for the aburi, it wound up overcooking the fish and drying it out. The sushi rice was also dry, and the edges of each block were hard, making one wonder if they were just pre-prepared portions that had been stored for an unknown amount of time.We also had a karage chicken curry don. The curry had a different spice flavour from the usual japanese curry you get elsewhere, a bit more Indian in spice hints. It seemed like a nice variation. It was on the salty side though, and the point of the karage chicken was not clear as it had been covered in the sauce, so was simply soggy rather than having any crunch to it.The waitress was really lovely..but they are going to have to improve on their food to keep going. elsewherebriefly.com
Was around Mater Hospital one day and just tried to have my lunch at the shopping village across the road next to Hotel Diana. I found a sushi place (looks new) trading just right underneath Ben Vietnamese Restaurant and it was running promotion of $3.50 per plate so I gave it a go. Honestly, the food was average but I would not expect too much on that price. Service was friendly and I don’t mind to revisit because the deal is so attractive.
