Magnificent. Gorgeous location, small intimate, sea breeze, soft lighting. The food is fabulous Asia influence on par if not better than many Melbourne restaurants, certainly one of the best northern beaches restaurants. Ray is a fabulous host guiding us through the menu. Located on the site of Golden Sands resort at Yorkeys Knob. Back in Melbourne & still thinking about the food we ate!! Congratulation guys
Our local is a must. We are so delighted that the Star Apple is offering superb meals in a tropical, yet intimate setting. We now take our visitors for a casual meal or the more expensive but quite special ristafel Indonesian Banquet. Latest guests rated the evening better than anything in Palm Cove or Cairns.
Star Apple Yorkeys Knob. Wonderful restaurant, I had a private birthday function for over 40 people there. Ray and Arpid were a delight to work with and they made it a very special evening. Everyone raved about the food, the service and the venue, its a unique place that you have to know about to find (at the Golden Sands Apartments at the southern end of Yorkeys Knob beach). It’s a wonderful restaurant with great food, and a fantastic place to have celebrated my birthday. Thank you Ray, Arpid and your wonderful staff for such a great evening!
The service was absolutely outstanding! Food was amazing, not a huge menu but everything on it sounded delish! The set up was intimate and lovely! Will be back there in a flash!!!
Just opened…. Just when we were lamenting the paucity of interesting cuisine in Cairns, this lovely waterfront local pops up again. Visiting family at Golden Sands, we’d been subjected to various average club/pub meals… Big family dinner was booked for a Thursday night (only a few days after opening) – and Star Apple did not disappoint!There were 6 of us, and we ordered the excellent value Rystaffel (I’ve probably misspelt that) banquet style menu – loads of food, well timed, and flexible as well.Ray is a wonderful front of house person – friendly, knowledgeable, welcoming but not intrusive, and quick to offer alternatives to the set menu.The food was fantastic (and we were pleasantly surprised) – a mix of truly authentic Thai and Indonesian dishes, obviously good quality produce, and an interesting mix of some old favourites (a gloriously tender Beef Rendang) with some not so common winners (Son in Law eggs anyone?).Star Apple is currently BYO – which makes it even better value!Ambience is lovely too – pretty garden surrounds, unobtrusive decoration and close to the beach – all in a secluded location – it was lovely!By far the best meal we’ve had in Cairns over the past 3 trips – thanks Star Apple!
