So excited to see this place open on Rundle Street, great to see something a bit different. The restaurant looks nice and the staff are friendly and helpful.I will get straight to the food! I really wanted the lobster bisque and had my heart set on it, only to be told it was not available, massive sad face! So, opted for Vitello Tonnato. I absolutely love a good Vitello and this is a dish that you should not mess with or try to modernise too much, unfortunately this one did not hit the mark for me. The veal was very thin and there was not enough of the tuna sauce, it should be covered in it and banging with flavour and it wasn’t, I ran out of sauce pretty quickly! The breads with house made butters were great! The duck parfait, as pretty as it looked (and kudos for having a Heston spin on it), also did not impress, the parfait should have been smooth and silky and the accompanying pear chutney was just chopped pears, shame, the pickles needed a lot more pickle flavour as well, still, it was a reasonable dish and a lot of work had gone into this. The quail dish with a watermelon salad was a huge let down, not enough flavour on the quail, although perfectly cooked and the watermelon salad was just not right with this, it also had some strange green sauce squiggled on the plate, which was just inedible and bitter as! Also had the seafood crepe, looked fabulous as it arrived but oh my, so disappointed, where was the seafood! I went on the hunt for my fish and prawns, they had gone awol! Just mussels with white sauce, not one prawn to be found and the flavour was lacking. I really wanted to give this place a great review as I believe it has so much potential. A friend of mine went a week later and loved everything they had, but they didn’t order anything we had! So maybe I will give this establishment another try. We relayed all of this to the Manager and he seemed to care about what we said and would pass the information on to the kitchen, you can only get better by listening to feedback, not all of it of course as some peeps got no idea! I still think this is worth a visit, so try for yourself and hopefully they will continue to stay strong and just get better!
