We went here before a show at Her Majesty’s Theatre so the restaurant was extremely busy. Service was average but the kitchen did well to get orders out considering the high volume of orders. The baked chicken was super tasty!

Old style pub, good for a drink, forget the food. We had mixed feelings. We enjoyed sitting in here having a couple of drinks but the food was so TERRIBLE I had to vote it down. We shared a chicken pie. No flavour whatever. Lots of sweet tinned tomatoes that seemed to have been thickened with cornstarch. Really awful. It came with a thick doorstep of toasted focaccia. Got to be kidding. On the plus side, the service was good and friendly. A good selection of Cooper’s Ales (which I like) and a reasonable pub wine list at decent prices. I’d go here for a drink anytime but could never recommend the food to anyone.

Basic but decent. Be aware: basic pub, basic food. That said, the service was actually very impressive – staff were flawless in their attention to us as customers. Wait was a little long, but not unreasonable given how many people were in there (probably waited 20-30 minutes for mains). Food was overpriced. Prepared and presented well, but didn’t appear to use particularly high quality ingredients.A bunch of pros, a bunch of cons, but certainly above the standard one would usually expect from pubs like this.

Disappointed. After waiting almost two hour for my meal to arrive, the kangaroo that I had ordered as rare was more toward medium and the had very little flavour the star on the plate was the peace on bacon. needless to say I doubt very much that I will return.

I don’t know where this place gets it’s 93% from. I had a ribeye on the bone, which is the most expensive menu item at $32 dollars and it was small, very fatty, tough and rare when medium rare requested. The vegetables (roasted) were ok for the pieces that were well cooked but the undercooked bits were hard as nails. Terrible meal and the dinning area should rate at 40%. The waiter said he was sorry I hadn’t enjoyed it, I said he couldn’t be as sorry as me.

Prob the worst Caesar salad I have ever been served the lettuce was brown and limp 3 tiny pieces of what they call bacon croutons that are soggy no anchovies after asking for them. At least the poached egg was proper. 19$ total when I questioned and advised I was not happy the bar tender advised he would do something about it… To late mate already on social media was my reply… Should be right the first time.

Country in the City. The Metro is a great country feel pub in the heart of the city. The staff in the front bar are friendly, funny and helpful. A strong sense of the regular drinking clientele immediately made me feel comfortable. Beer prices are fair and their food is honest, hearty and what you could expect from a pub who is trying to aim above average to the normal pub fare. Some of the music is hit and miss, but what can you do? It would never ruin a trip to the Metro for me…. I’m thinking of making it my new local!
