GOOD FOODI’m not normally a fan of pub food but the Metro is different. We arrived on a chilly Saturday night for a pre-dinner drink in the bar which was cosy with an open fire in an attractive traditional pub.In good moods, we then headed into the dining room for dinner. They happened to be playing some of our favourite music plus the walls have lots of interesting amateur art which is for sale. We spent some time deciding which one we liked best while we waited for our food. All meals were very good.He had rich & hearty lamb pie special with pea mash. Fabulous pastry! She had chicken schnitty with mash & salad.I had a generous serve of Coorong mullet with salad & chips. The salad needed more dressing but I forgot to ask for it when the waitress came to check if we were enjoying our meals, because I was too busy stuffing my face. For afters we shared a dark choc pudding with ice cream & choc sauce which was ok.The service was a bit haphazard – the two times that I went to the dining room bar, I was ignored and it wasn’t even busy but my husband always got quick service.

Stopped in here as it was close to the hotel and only wanted something simple an was expecting the usual pub grub. Was very surprised, great food- Try the Quinoa Balls!

It was a scorching day so we saw this rather old fashioned looking hotel in all it’s grandeur very close to where we were staying. The food is just basic pub food, so we didn’t bother. However the staff were attentive enough even though we only ordered a couple of drinks
