Dined at The Office on Pirie tonight and let’s just say that the food was not up to standard…Service was excellent and major thumbs up, but my steak main was such a big let-down (apart from the $8 Mushroom Arancini balls (w/ aioli) which were pretty alright). The two mains ordered was the 250g Scotch Fillet (w/ mushroom sauce, roast potatoes, and green beans), as well as the Seafood Chest ($23).While the Seafood Chest was good (can’t go wrong with fried seafood as pub food), my scotch fillet was awful to eat! I’m presuming the beef was old because each slice was chewy, hard, and gushing red even when medium rare! This was definitely not the kind of steak experience I was looking for, nevertheless it didn’t hurt to try. My roast potatoes were somewhat lukewarm and the green beans were a tad overcooked. This place may make a good bar and pub, but definitely needs to improve more on their dishes.Overall experience? Not that great. Although I am giving credit to the two friendly staff!
We were a party of 5 on a weekday night around 7. The place was completely empty throughout our visit – I imagine it lives and dies by its lunch and immediately after-work trade. We had six vouchers for five people and had the main course squid along with the entree, which they were quite happy with. The TV screens flickering all over were a bit of a distraction but generally the setup is good and comfortable. The food is basic pub grub – steak, chicken, squid or garfish – with salad and chips, but nothing wrong with that when it’s well-cooked. Big serves and a big beer with the vouchers. Service was cheerful, homely and quick. A remarkable deal for just $20 all in each including tip. No complaints at all.
We bought a last minute Scoopon for this restaurant and thought we’d bagged a bargain$29 for a drink, shared bruschetta starter and a mainsOrdered our drinks and sat at our table, the waiter came straight over and asked if we knew what we wanted for mains so he could put the order in asap so we did….. Half an hour later our mains arrived, they’d skipped our bruschetta starter so I asked if we were still getting that which the waiter said oh sorry I’ll get it for you now! This arrived after we had eaten mains but wasn’t good at all! Here goes, my steak was ordered medium, I struggled to swallow it as it was so dry, I asked if I could get some mayonnaise thinking this would help but alas no, so I went away hungryOn the upside my hubby ordered the fish which was tasty and juicy, If the Scoopon is to entice you to try The Office to maybe return then sadly we won’t
How not to operate a bar/restaurant during Friday lunch. Ever since your new management has taken over last year you’ve had a shocking run, please go to another city pub to see how it’s meant to function on a Friday lunch (Stag, Exter, Elephant, anywhere!), you serve people meals in some sort of order, have more than one person at the bar so there’s not a 15 min wait everytime for a beer, clear off the tables in under 30 mins so other people can use them, don’t just shrug your shoulders as server when I’ve got people with me and want to get a table, open more than one till so we can actually pay for our meals at the end instead of waiting around another 20 minutes, I’m amazed you get any repeat customers at all, 3 times burnt by having work lunches there, learned my lesson, adios!
I ordered the Office burger. So did my friend. She had no complaints. The fries were really good. But oh my god the burger was the most disgusting thing I have ever had in my entire life. It literally tasted like they had put it through the dishwasher!! The whole thing was horrible. The patty was crumbly and falling apart. It seemed as though they had accidentally dropped it in the sink, it had fallen apart and they just crammed it into my burger. The bun was gross and the salad was old and tasteless. Safe to say I will be reluctant to return but I sure as hell won’t be ordering any burgers!!!
Btter taste in the mouth. I have an Entertainment Voucher which allows me and a guest to get a 25% off the total bill. Imagine to my surprise and disappointment and not to mention frustration and anger that they do not allow me to use the voucher for two people as it was a group booking. The only way I could use the voucher is that I paid for everyone in the group. That sucks big time…. The Griffin allows it…..
A 45 minute wait for our food at lunch time today was unacceptable. We had to go back to our office and ended up leaving with our meals in take away boxes. I noticed later that I had been short changed too! Would never go back.
