Been here previously and decided for the first time to order the Beef Rendang for take-away which costs $16.90 alone – The quantity was absurdly small and barely filled up half of the plastic container which is actually the smallest sized container being the 500ml ones that are 4cm in height. I know many other places also serve very small quantities which they put in a larger sized container to deceive people. So at least these guys didn’t do that. But $16.90 for the quantity shown in the photos is still very disappointing.
Finding good Malaysian food is always a challenge in Adelaide. Little Chilli Padi makes a great spicy sambal fried rice and I hear the curry laksa is good too. The Nasi Lemak is not bad; I think there could be more meat and more sambal for what you pay. What irks me the most though is the wait time; they’re fairly popular and whilst the restaurant may not be full they do get a lot of takeaway orders so you might find yourself waiting quite a while before you get your food. My advice – don’t wait ’til you’re starving. Get there earlier.
Very tasty food, reasonably priced, friendly staff and great for takeaway (or eating in with two to four people). I love it! Try the house-made sodas. The salt and pepper eggplant is also delish! The only downside I should mention is that none of their vegetarian options are actually vegetarian. They all contain some kind of fish/oyster sauce or meat stock in them. Just a heads up to any vegans or vegetarians out there. You might wanna skip this one.
Small nice Malaysian cafe down south. Not much thoughts put into decorations (simple decors) but the environment is decent. Services : alright. Staffs are nice but not overly friendly. They don’t serve you at the table, you would have to order at the counter even though you dine in. Food and drinks are served pretty quick. Food – char kway teow is good but a bit way too oily. My gf order the normal char kway teow and I order the sambal/belacan char kway teow, but they both taste quite the same. I was hoping mine would have a kick of belacan taste and spice. Nevertheless, it still taste good. The ngo Hiang is a must try on entree, crispy skin with tasty filling. Roti is good but not fantastic, curry that serve with the roti has good fragrance and flavour is well balanced. All dishes served are not too spicy to tolerate in general. Drinks – teh tarik was way toooo sweet for me. Flavour wise was good but I must remember to tell them less less less sweet next time. That’s just my personal opinion, I love strong tea flavour and less condense milk. It’s an enjoyable night for me and my gf. Would love to come back and try the rest of their Malaysian dishes.
Quite disappointed. Nasi lemak rice is good but severely lacks curry meat pieces and sauce. Cha Kway Teau has little smokiness. Unfortunately not coming back.
Good authentic Malaysian fare! We had the roti canai, mee goreng and hokkien mee – pretty good. Beef noodles needs a little working. Teh tarik was super. Rated 4 when I first came. Revising it to 1. Somehow the food quality is far from what it was 6 months back.
Little Malaysian GemFood is great, without a doubt; char kuey teow quite possibly one of the best in Adelaide, if not the best. Service can be slow sometimes. Staff is courteous. Overall a great Malaysian experience, not to be missed.
