This little gem is under new management. I haven’t been to the Balhannah Hotel for many years but today I was very pleased with my experience here. I’m a sucker for a chicken schnitzel with mushroom sauce and it is rare to find one that ticks all the boxes. The chicken breast was succulent and the mushroom had bags of flavor. I did wait a little longer than I would’ve liked however the meal I was delivered was worth the wait. I recommend stopping into the Balhannah Hotel next time you are in the Adelaide Hills.
The Balhannah Hotel Est 1840, is located in the picturesque Adelaide Hills, between Verdun and Oakbank, Being close to the Oakbank Race Course, Amy Gillett Bikeway, several major wineries, unique specialty shops, makes for an ideal stop, to enjoy an affordable lunch, dinner or a drink, while enjoying the atmosphere of an older style Australian Pub. With a cosy open fire in the back ground while dining in the classic Art Deco dining room, a buzz of satisfied diners, very relaxing. The menu, focuses on Modern Australian cuisine, with a Mediterranean, Asian influence, plus Classic Pub favourites, Roast of the day etc, we were ready to order. We enjoyed two mains from a comprehensive menu, both plates were excellent, very relaxing over a good house wine. Completing our dinner with two very nice desserts, Sticky Date pudding. The service was personal and friendly, with out any overly long delays. We have had dinner at this hotel on a number of occasions, always left satisfied. Easy to understand why this hotel is busy, As a recommendation, book a table in advance.
