The service was good, with a pleasant and attentive waitress.The decor was modern and nice, with the additions of traditional music and an Indian mural adding to the atmosphere. The food was ok, but a little bland and my partner’s lamb was quite chewy. Reasonably priced.
We ate here November 2015. We love curries and have visited many Indian Restaurants in a variety of countries. We were extremely hungry and saw the Shalimar at Blackwood. We all ordered different meals, a butter chicken, a chicken madras, a beef vindaloo. All three curries were brought in exactly the same sauce and with the same heat level, it was bland and yellow and had no indian spice flavours. We tasted each other’s curries and there was no difference in our meals. We were disappointed and did not enjoy our meals inspite of being extremely hungry. The meat was full of fat and inedible. We left there hungry and appalled someone would attempt to serve something like that to us, especially a restaurant. The food was not even at a standard we would cook at home and we are not chefs. We will never eat there again and would not recommend it. I award this minus five stars but your web page did not allow me to.
Not bad Indian food. I find Indian food in Adelaide tends to be a little more on the bland side, except for a few places. Given its location in Blackwood it’s probably catering to that taste, but it’s certainly not the most flavourful and exciting Indian food around. It’ll do for a quick takeaway though.
The food was good but it took too long. We were the only group in the restaurant, besides one takeaway order, and it took almost an hour for our vegetarian meals to be served.
Take over an longer to make good on pickup. Took over an hour longer than they said to make food then made no apology for taking so long. Very poor customer service. I have been a long time customer but now since the name change and this I will never return. STEER CLEAR!! Much better food down the hill at raj and including the travel time would be way quicker.
Interesting….. The food was ok but the pricing is far too much. 2x curries with naan’s, raita, soft drink and rice for $56 takeaway…. come on team
Good food, terrible service (definitely don’t order online). Firstly, the food was very nice, but unfortunately that was the only good thing about the order. I completed the order online via their website, and received a confirmation email saying it would be 20min until the order was ready for pickup. Previously I have been here and found that the orders take much longer than they say to prepare, so I called them after 15 minutes to see if my order would be ready on time. It appears that they lost my order, (therefore hadn’t started it), and I was told by the manager that it appeared to be lost as there seems to be an issue with being updated when online orders are sent (why offer ordering online through your website if you don’t have the processes in place to deal with the order?). She would look into where it was and would call me back. After a further 15 minutes of waiting for a call back, I decided to call again. I was told by the manager that she forgot to call me back and that my order would now be ready in a further 20 minutes time. No apology or acknowledgement of any issue. So all up it took around an hour for me to get the food which I received an email should have been ready 40 minutes earlier, and no courtesy that there was an issue. This is not the first time that I have had issues like this here (previously via phone order being 20 minutes later than I was told). Although their food is good, I won’t be rushing back as there are plenty other Indian restaurants nearby to try, hopefully some of which realise that service is a important part of the business.
