Unfortunately I am writing to report a bad experience in this pub. we visited on a Friday night at 7pm. The things we chose on the menu had run out so we had to go for other options. After ordering we then headed to the salad bar which was already empty aswell. When asking the chef if it was going to be topped up we were told no only some of it would be topped up. The chef gave me two excuses one was its extremely busy ( the dining room wasn’t even half full) and the second excuse was I am not sued to working with a salad bar. When I receive my burger the bun was so hard on the outside I couldn’t eat it and had to deconstruct the burger to eat it. Very poor experience, which I might add is not the first time in this establishment, I was hoping over the years it had improved but I was very wrong.
My partner and i moved into the area with the Findon hotel not far away. Put off by the reviews we hadn’t eaten there but decided it was time to try. The waitress we had was extremely friendly and the wine list though short was well priced and not too much more expensive than in the bottle shop out the front.We both ordered steaks. One a ‘Graziers’ steak off the menu and a rib eye from the specials board. The graziers steak was cooked well, a good size and quite tender. The rib eye however wasn’t. Overcooked, small for the size it was supposed to be, tough and underseasoned. Quite disappointing in the end.
Came here for lunch on a Saturday and it was SO much better than expected. $14 steak with a heap of crunchy chips. $13 salt and pepper squid – also large serves that were really tasted.
After a bad experience here a year ago, I decided to give it one more go.Big mistake! This place has been completely run into the ground.Everything was grimy and disorganized. The hot food at the salad bar tasted like dishwater (only the roast potatoes were ok). The fish and chips arrived after an hour wait and was greasy and inedible.There was one friendly waitress but the rest really seemed unprofessional and lost. I was informed that the chef decided not to to turn up today (so that could explain the terrible food, but this is no excuse).It needs a makeover, new management and a new chef.Really wanted to like this place (as it was great back in its hey day), but will DEFINITELY NOT BE BACK.
Delicious food, however sub standard service.. Arrived with our entertainment voucher & nearly paid full price, luckily my money savvy husband picked up on it & advised the staff member, no apology. For a Monday night we were hoping for quick service, needed to ask for our drinks after ordering & after waiting 25 mins no meal. On the positive the food was amazing. Highly recommend the Chicken Wellington and the Atlantic Salmon. Just need to work on customer service!
Worst food ever. I hate complaining and am well aware this would be a pub meal, having said that this was the worst food EVER. Booked a week ago for 12 expecting we would be seated together, after all it’s not that hard to put two tables together. No we were at two separate tables. All the meals came out at different times, with a time lapse from first to last of 30 minutes. Two of us had the Cajun chicken breast, would have to be the worst thing I have ever tasted. Besides being burnt to a cinder the meat was brown and fatty, definitely not breast. I felt sorry for the waiting staff having to serve up such rubbish. We were refunded for the two burnt meals, but all the meals were really sub-standard. In this economic climate you really need to try harder.
Stayed at Findon Hotel sat 5 th october 2013. Confirmed definant checkin could be 12pm as per website but got there at 12.25 pm and told be at least 2o minutes as cleaner hadnt cleaned room yet. We advised we had to be at wedding at 1.30 but leave at 1pm to get there leaving around ten minutes to be showered and ready for wedding. Reception not helpful. Eventually girl comes over with another rooms key for us. Room was like prison cell that someone had died in!! Would have been better to sleep in car as bed was hard and curtains didnt even reach to bottom of window so sun come straight through window in bed. The place should be condemmed as the staff and quality of the room was not even suitable for a hotel in Daveron Park.. Will never return to eat sleep or anything else.
