We ordered some takeaway from here recently and right from the start we should have seen the warning signs. The shop was pumping, very busy with patrons but the staff were disorganized and scattered given the number of customers. We ordered the family fish pack for 2 which consisted of 2 pieces of battered barramundi, chips and your choice of 2 salads. The fish was lacking in flavour and didn’t seem fresh. The batter from one of the fish pieces stuck to the lining of the paper when I went to open at home no more than 5 minutes after picking it up. The chips were ok but on the soggy side and were packed in the same takeaway pack with the 2 salads. We were told the salads were home made but didn’t seem to have that home made love and care nor was the flavour any different from any other takeaway salad. We also wanted pineapple fritters as part of our order which appeared on the menu online and in the shop but we were told they were unavailable. I know this business has recently changed owners and maybe there are some issues associated with this but unfortunately I wouldn’t go back here as there are far better take away fish cafes in the local area.
Prompt, friendly service with clean flavours, crunchy chips, generous serves. My fellow eater, who is obsessively fussy about fish, said that the batter was really good and the fish really tasty. An outdoor seating area so you can see the sights of Grange Road. Can’t go wrong really can you?
This place is our local fish an chip shop, we’ve been few times and it’s always been goodWe’ve tried few others in the area an these guys are our favourite, always fresh and you can tell they regularly change the oil as always crispy chips an fish an not oily ,also who else gives you cut lemons to Put on your fish? Suggest to ring ahead as can be very busy at times
