Not a positive to mention. We were freezing cold sitting inside. Even asking for more water was too hard for the staff to manage. Kids food was overcooked and cooked in burned oil.. tasted horrible.. kids wouldn’t even eat it. Arancini were horrible with not enough sago or mushroom, sent them back, but still charged for them. The pork shoulder was as dry as a bone, the pork crackling was completely ruined and like charcoal. The prawns in the spaghetti were so over cooked that I couldn’t eat them. They had no serving utensils for the expensive cake that I bought for my Mum’s special birthday, and to top it off apparently they had run out of coffee pods according to the waitress on a Saturday night, so no one could have coffee! Be warned!
Get down to Ei8ht at the Marina. We have dined at Ei8th on many occasions since it opened. Friendly staff, great food and excellent atmosphere. New chef has improved the already varied and tasty menu and it is a pleasure to enjoy their tapas menu with a wine from their well rounded wine list.
Disgusting found a hair in my food and to top it off it the food was very bland very small servings and very over priced – with so many fabulous places to eat at glenelg give this one a miss
We had a fantastic experience – tapas portions are smallish but full of flavour. Defintely would recommend the crab sliders – moist and crunchy at the same time. Our server was lovely. Great wine list too.
Food was average at best if there was enough food on the plate to even taste which you would hope for after waiting 1 and a half hours for it. The staff were poorly dressed and inattentive, but at least they had good wine.
Ei8ht.. Not so great!Four of us went for dinner on Melbourne Cup Day and it resulted in a very underwhelming meal. When we first arrived we were seated outside, and there were 10 people in the restaurant. With three waitresses you would think they could adequately cover the patrons. Nope! The service was incredibly slow, we had to call the waitress to get glasses, to order and then waited 40 minutes for our cold meal. We ordered a seafood platter special for $45 and a large meat share plate for $40 and a salad. The salad was the biggest plate! For four people we severely under ordered, but the waitresses did not tell us that the size of the seafood plate was an entree (expensive entree) and was mostly filled with chips. The four pieces of meat were no bigger then 4cm each, which we were told was a ‘share plate’ – doesn’t really work. In the end the best thing about the meal was the wine.. And we brought that ourselves! (and were still charged corkage). When I complained I was given a $10 discount. Bye $110 on nothing. Avoid. This one won’t last.
Last day of the winter menu and it was fantastic and per normal. Ei8ht had become a real favourite for us. Service is wonderful, setting is great and getting better with each change the new owners are making. I’ve noticed lots of reviews here are for the old restaurant and are completely not linked to Ei8ht. I’d hate to think they’re influencing people, we’ve been here at least half a dozen times in recent months and have had nothing but fantastic meals and service.
