Had such a wonderful experience at Cafe Pantai. We sat at a table over looking the ocean and had excellent service. The staff were pleasant and easy to chat to. The meal was absolutely delicious. PS best Laksa I’ve had in Adelaide.
We were a family of parents, grand parents, children and grandchildren celebrating 2 birthdays for dinner expecting a nice night. I read the reviews and some had high praise on food quality, some the opposite, but we decided to ignore the negative and go for the positive and that was a big mistake. The night did not turn out to be a nice night. All of the dishes were overcooked. A group of us ordered the banquet also overcooked, over deep fried, dry and tasteless with accompanying dips out of a jar.The staff and cafe manager appeared to be in a dither and just wanting to get the night over and done with. When the ladies came back from the rest rooms they found the toilets to be filthy. I suppose this is understandable as hotel guests and people off the streets can use them. On payment my voucher in the Entertainment Book was denied and when I turned my back and walked away my wife saw the man at the payment desk smile and laugh as he caught the eye of the restaurant manager. This cafe has a lovely evening sunset that is their draw card to attract customers, and the curtains on the windows are raised at sunset for your benefit, unfortunately the poor quality of the food can’t match this. To park in the Pier Hotel complex where this cafe is situated will cost more than $20 if you stay more than 2 hours. A very expensive night out for what we thought we were going to get. Think again before going here.
Terrible service. Waited at least 20 minutes to get our table then an hour to get our food. When we were finally greeted we were rushed off to a table without guidance. Meals were average, definitely not worth the wait. Thought it would be a nice night out for a meal however was out till 9pm waiting for our dinner. Wouldn’t return.
Beautiful taste and great location in Glenelg. Reasonable price. We ordered 2 mains and an entree for sharing. Delicious prawns with generous coconut sauce and spicy! Tasty green curry chicken. The thai fish cakes is good but not extraordinary. Happy tummy 🙂
Pantai is in a nice setting with great views. The food is ok, not great, not bad, I have no complaints just something was missing. Fair price and good size servings. Been there 4 times over 4 years. Try the Nasi Goreng , thats one of the best I have anywhere in SA. See pic
So dont go if you have an allergy. I attended this restaurant as part of a big group and mind you the restaurant wasnt busy. I specifically said i have an allergy to fish sauce and oyster sauce and cant have any seafood at all. I asked for the entree platter without seafood and was told that would be fine. When the meal came out there was fish cakes on there of which i had a bite not even thinking and assuming that because i had asked for no fish it wouldnt be fish. So if u do have an allergy double check the order before u start
Ordinary. Pity the food does not live up to the view. Very easy place to get to, park underneath and you are right on the beach – and that’s the list of positives. Food details: Satee chicken was dry, battered(!!) and served with peanut sauce on the side – hard to eat. Fish balls – small and stodgy- showed little sign of imput from the sea.We had the seafood stirfry – although with the heavy thick (bottled??) sauce it was draped in, it was hard to tell zucchini and carrot from prawn and mussel. Not what we expected from a Thai stirfry which I think should be fresh and lighter. All up, dissappointing. The view is not enough to get us back again.
