Overrated. Went for a family lunch in April, mains were average and not worth the expensive price tag. Several people on the table ordered the Aussie Favourite and seemed to enjoy it well enough, but at nearly $40 it is pretty pricey – food is not dissimilar from what youd expect from a fish and chips at a decent pub. I had the kingfish, which was ok but the laksa broth was quite salty (and Im a fan of well-season food – but was too salty for even me). And $17 for a kids fish and chips meal is fairly ridiculous. Overall, I dont think Ill be going out of my way to come back.

We had been wanting to try Sammy’s since arriving in Australia, but due to their prices had never really felt that we could justify that sort of money. Last night we were treated to a meal there by my hubby’s boss and his wife as the company’s Christmas Dinner (only 2 employees, my hubby and the owner). We waited nearly 10 minutes to be served our first drinks and no the restaurant was not full. The dinner was the worst meal I have ever had the displeasure of eating since living here. The salt & pepper calamari – no salt or pepper, the calamari was cut in squares, tossed in flour, deep fried and barely drained. It was soaked in oil, not crispy and tasteless. I asked for aioli instead of sweet chilli and all I got was mayo. Even the tartar sauce was bland. The reason it gets any rating at all, is the waiter we had once he finally found us was fantastic. He was friendly, competent and efficient. Pity the food was inedible, but I was too embarrassed in front of my hubby’s boss to send it back/refuse to eat it.
