Michele wanted to go out and have ribs at a place in Port Adelaide but they only had tables outside so we went to The Glynde. It has been a few years since we were last there and some of the reviews have not been that good but wanted to give it a go. The staff were lovely, really helpful and very polite. I had a rib meat burger that was great (photos attached), it was well made and the flavours were well balanced enabling all the elements of the burger to be tasted. The burger comes with a small serve of chips. As is the trend currently it is served on a board, I do not like the board. I would certainly recommend this but watch out, it is a little juicy which because of being served on a board run onto the table. As a side I had corn which was very nice. Michele had ribs, pork and beef (photo attached). Both cooked well but the pork were the best, I ended up with the beef. They had a huge amount of meat on them. All in all a nice meal served by a nice staff.
Went there a few times way back for the half price ribs special and it was great. I then set up a night with the entire family and assured them how tasty it would be. So disappointed…. Ribs were poorly cooked, very dry, pretty much burnt to crisp… it was not even a full rack the size of the full rack changed drastically. I sat there thinking this is surely a half rack, we paid for full racks! My parents were given chopped up parts of ribs chucked on to the plate. Not to mention only one out of the 5 servings of ribs we ordered had salad on the side. Ever since that experience I have never been back nor will I recommended the place to anyone ever again. What happened? Are these changes worth losing all your valuable customers? Change it back!
We visited when the first opened and it was great. Returned recently and it was dreadful. Our meals were slow and cold and the service was disinterested.
Don’t bother. As little as 7 months ago the place was great, now its terrible.Credit where due the service was great with very helpful and knowledgeable staff. The food was horrible though. I had the half rack of pork ribs which were tiny, tough and chewy. The marinade, which was a subtle smokey barbecue but is now more like tomato ketchup which over powers everything. My partner had the rump steak which wasn’t cooked rare like we’d ordered and seemed to have more sauce on the serving board than food.We used to go there fairly regularly but we won’t bother again. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.
Very disappointing. What was once our favourite place to eat, one we would recommend to anyone wanting a nice juicy steak or tender, tasty ribs, has now become somewhere we would tell people not to bother with.I do have to say that the staff were fantastic, very friendly and attentive and the service was great. we got our meals very quickly, but that may be becausr there were only a handful of patrons. I’ve never seen a place that quiet on a Friday night.I ordered a rump steak, rare. I got a rump steak, well done. Very chewy, very fatty, and what happened to the chips? The mash was nice, but chips are better, could at least give an option. And the sauce the steaks used to be coated in, where did that go? I’m not sure how someone can mix up rare and well done though. My fiance got the pork ribs, half rack….half rack???? more like quarter rack. And once again, where’s the awesome sauce they used to be cooked in? The ribs were so chewy, not very meaty, so small and tasted of nothing. They used to just fall off the bone, now you have to tear them.I understand change in a restaurant, but the changes they have made are definitely not for the better.
Don’t wast your time or money. Very disappointing. Waited almost an hour for 3 meals, and another 15 for a kids meal (cheeseburger).Service was pretty average, waiters leaning across people to take glasses. Food was average at best. The only possible positive aspect was the skewer, which was quite tender. Definitely will not be returning.
I went here for a second time with my friends for the Wednesday night special on the half price ribs and what a disappointment. First of all, they made a mistake with our reservation and we got moved to the sports room. A waiter there put two tables together that were uneven so was wobbly and didn’t even bother cleaning it. Secondly, they ran out of beef ribs when we went to order. They brought out our starters/entrees about 30 mins later but was given no cutlery or plates. We had to ask two times! Finally, after 15 mins, apparently they ran out of big plates so we had mini ones and wet wipes. Still no cutlery. When we asked the third time, the waiter was extremely rude like this was an inconvenience for them. How were we meant to eat?! By this time, the food was cold. Our mains came out and again, burnt and cold. The salad looked like it was made yesterday and left out. Similar to another comment, it didn’t look like we received a full rack of ribs either. It was truly horrific, we could not believe how awful the food and service was. The worst part, they were not apologetic, just rude.
