This is my favourite place in Adelaide for authentic Hong Kong food! Everything is so affordable and delicious to boot. Staff are really friendly and great at recommending dishes to suit your fancy!
Seriously, one of my favourite Chinese restaurants in Adelaide, great service, foot is always great, great value too! Do yourself a favour and try them out! They also specialize in seafood!
Unassuming Little Gem. We have frequent this family restaurant for the last 15 years. First impression of this place doesn’t really make for a lasting one due to its outdated interior and fittings. There is little ambience, saved by the warm lighting. It is a very ‘typical’ Chinese restaurant with live seafood in tanks, tacky decorations and scattered Chinese ornaments / pictures which doesn’t flow well throughout the space. Personally it is a little haphazard and doesn’t bode well in the trendy category against some of the newest restaurants in the hospitality scene.Interior aside, lets talk food.It is the primary reason for our repeated return. We come here for the seafood with the cheesy lobster dish being a favourite of ours.Service is slow, so, if you can order in advance, you should, especially for takeaway and traditional highly prized dishes such as lobster, king crabs, mud crabs, Peking duck, drunken chicken. We returned for a belated Mother’s Day celebration. Lobster was the star tonight. An almost 2kg lobster was turned into two dishes; one being the cheesy lobster noodles and the other was a spring onion and garlic noodle dish – both were equally amazing, as expected.Additional dishes included: salt and pepper prawns (without shells), kou shui ji (saliva chicken, the translation doesn’t do the dish justice, I promise!), jellyfish tossed in sesame oil and green chilli and oyster omelette.Every dish was lovely. No complaints on the quality, quantity or taste.Be prepared to wait, even if they aren’t busy. The restaurant owner is also the chef. His wife works with him in the kitchen and his son looks after front of house. Regardless of the number of patrons, this workforce remains the same.Despite the long waits, we always return for the food. In addition to the quality, price point wise, it is very reasonable.
Ordered on a Sunday night. They said 1 hour. Thought I would walk in and see place pumping……nope just 2 tables of customers. Guy behind me told another 15 minutes making his order 1.5 hours. Seriously. Chinese takeaway or front for something else? Order ahead….like 2 hours ahead. The foods not bad but the lingering poor taste is in the waiting..shame…
‘Home cooked’ Chinese. For those in the know, this family-run is one of the best Chinese restaurants in Adelaide….. for the food. The restaurant itself is dowdy and the table service below average. And, for a Chinese restaurant, the wait can be interminable… particularly if another table orders the lobsters or giant crabs that they serve in season. But ultimately its worth overlooking these shortcomings, because the cooking is extraordinarily good and the value-for-money superb. My advice is to ignore the menu and ask them what they can cook thats different and interesting, because the Aussie style dishes on the menu you can get anywhere. Dig under the surface of this place a bit the surface is pedestrian but underneath is some of the best Cantonese food in Adelaide.
Friendly service. Great family restaurant. Absolutely loved the king crab dish. Best dish I have ever tasted!
A solid go to cheap eat. I live in the area and takeaway in general is expensive compared to when I lived in the western suburbs. but this place is great value. I get the black pepper beef and large fried rice for $14.l (enough for 2 people) Next door at the thai resturant you would get half the food for double the price. never eaten inside, but people who do seam happy enough. basic decor, no fancy dinner date would be had here 🙂 have eaten many dishes here, but the beef and fried rice has become my standard.
