A good mix of traditional pub culture whilst focusing on the younger crowds with regular fun events such as Mario Kart comps, beer pong, craft beer launches etc. They also have a rewards app where you can rack up points to exchange for food/drink. Cracking stuff. The courtyard is a favorite spot of mine to sip beers and watch the big screen on sunny afternoon. Decent place to have knock-offs on POETS day as well – they have a BBQ along with happy hour. Staff are chatty and friendly. Couldn’t say a bad word about ’em.The food. Overall Id give it 4.5 shakabrahs out of 5. I’ve had some outstanding meals here, such as lamb cutlets especially paired with wines from a local winery. The kitchen really nails the basics here too, which is important for a pub. Cant say I’ve ever had a bad parmy, burger, pizza or fish and chips here.Minus 0.5 because once I got knocked back for a pizza on a Friday night as they were out of bases. The great thing was the way it was handled though. Was given a parmy + sauce for no extra cost. Cant argue with that.
Staff were pleasant but our meals were not. Even though we ordered from the Specials menu and majority of patrons are elderly, we received what could be expected in a nursing home. Roast Pork was obviously not actual leg/shoulder, but rolled piece served with two slivers of carrot, two baby potatoes the size of my little finger, one measly piece of pumpkin (2×2 inches), two florets ofalmost raw cauliflower. Certainly won’t be back there again.
My local. The TA. Love the staff because they love my little family. We go often. Because it’s walking distance. Would we if it wasn’t? Nope. But it is so all good. The food if you shy away from pub fayre is good. The pork slider particularly good. I have had the salmon about 5 times and it’s very good. The squid recently sucked though. My teenagers love the desserts of course! Wine list good. Service great. And they have an App you collect points on to get free or discounted food and drinks. Currently a glass of Janz for $6.50. Not bad I say.
Been at least 20 years since my last visit. The decor has certainly been upgraded and they’ve changed the name from Torrens Arms, to TA … bit yuppy but the interior is nicely set out and modern looking. As for the meals, not all that impressed. It did start off well. The garlic Bread was absolutely delicious. Just the right amount of garlic and butter, plus it was toastedperfectly. After the entre, things went down hill. I had a chicken Schnitzel Hawaiian ($23). The hot chips were sensational – 10/10! The schnitzel however had been over cooked … burnt around the edges and quite dry inside. My partner had the Beer Battered Garfish ($24). Again, the chips were great but the fish was very greasy. Pushed on it with the flat side of a knife and the oil ran out. Yuck! The service was friendly and waitresses were very nice to deal with. The food quality however, needs improvement.
Great atmosphere and really busy so a booking is essential on a Saturday night. The service was quite slow and the food was pretty average and a bit pricey in my opinion.
I’m a regular to the TA and I always get good friendly and reliable service. Appreciate the variety in the menu. Thoroughly recommend the TA restraunt to everyone!
Have eaten there quite often, but two days ago went for a quick meal & ordered & paid for the roast (which is always quickly served) at 6.10. Had an unpleasant experience with the young woman at the bar who took my order – who insisted on a table number, although I was to sit in a small area at the top, where most tables are not numbered anyway. No sight of food half an hour later, when I had to leave. I’d not told her I was on a time limit (my fault) but reckon the tardiness of delivery of the meal was deliberate. Not too fussed about the money I’d wasted, but was a bit hungry by midnight when I’d finished my volunteer work. Management should look urgently towards staff training!
