Had the antipasto platter for lunch with some beers and cocktails, absolutely loved it! Came back later and got the nachos and more drinks, nachos were okay not enough cheese though and the garlic bread was average. The cocktails are a little pricey but theres a good range and the beers are well priced. Best part is the location, great view of Henley beach and a nice place for drinks. Would definetly go back and get another platter and drinks
Service: very accommodating. We were greeted by a lovely lady at the door and shown where to sit with our army of dogs. The girls behind the bar went out of their way to make some refreshing passionfruit drinks, while the dogs got absolutely spoilt Food: share platter was good, and enough for 3 of us to pick at. The fish, chicken and squid were great, a was The pita and dips. The halumi was a bit disappointing however. The k9 menu was a hit and even the fussiest dog couldn’t turn it down.Ambiance: very relaxed. Open space that we didn’t feel like we had to climb over people to get to our seat. Definitely coming back for more!
This wine bar/restaurant on The Esplanade and overlooking Henley beach is only open on Friday – Sunday currently so we lucked out on eating out here for dinner. It was cold outside but toasty inside and we nabbed a spot near a heater. It can get loud in here due to amount of people especially groups which create a cacophony of sound. The meal service is order and pay at the bar, get your table number and they’ll deliver the food and drinks to you. Service was friendly and quick. They had a few specials on the menu tonight and we opted to have them. I had the Lamb Shank which was served on a bed of mashed potato and served with a Mediterranean sauce. The lamb was quite a large portion and the sauce was very flavoursome. The potatoes soaked in all the sauce. My friend had the Seafood Chowder and that went down a treat. She really liked the combination of seafood and bacon in it and mopped it all up with the garlic bread. It isn’t anything too fancy here but they cooked it very well. I can see why this seems to be a local favourite! On another note it is very dog friendly with a canine menu just for them as well as a little area set up for them at the side of the front seating area.
Bacchus is a great place to spend summer evenings drinking cider watching the sun set over Henley Beach. We often come here to grab a quick bite to eat whilst watching the world go by. The calamari are delicious, they come served with a chickpea salad and dressed with an aioli. The fish tacos are also tasty, with a good amount of heat and generously filled with salad and large pieces of battered fish. Give the Asian beef salad special a miss, it’s like undressed spaghetti served cold.
I thought I was confused about life and then I went here. Now I know the definition of confusion, which makes me no less confused, butdecidedlymore smug.Food isn’t bad but I don’t understand the dcor or menu. Roman? Hawaiian? Australian? Clarification of intention is required.
I’veknown about Bacchus Wine Bar for years but have never ventured in the doors for some reasonuntil yesterday. It was a lovely evening at Henley Square and this was a great place for a couple of glasses of wine and some nibbles. There is no table service here but otherwise the service is very friendly. The food arrived promptly and was delicious – all tapas items and the pizza were good.
Really nice house red and affordable too! Tasty pizza accompanied with a selection of tapas was the way to go. This was great to try everything and was very filling.
