Been living in the area for ten years plus .. had always been average However ..Finally new head chef in the last few months and the food is soooo much better Been here three times in three weeks , every time food has been great From seafood platter to salmon lucksa to baa baa lamsgate Every dish had been good Give it another go Won’t be disappointedStaff are good too
Came here for lunch had the battered barramundi with salad and chips. Very nice not greasy at all nice dressing on the salad and chips we’re crunchy. Friendly staff and if you join their club you get 25% of all meals during the week
Had a meal in the dining room tonight. Not in a hurry to go back. The pictures of the meals on the website is false advertising. They look great. Unfortunately what we received was average. Very disappointed and will not return. I had heard good reviews from friends which was the reason for selecting this hotel. In an area such as this with so much potential to be great the Ramsgate has a lot of work to do
The Rammy is a great place to head for a casual meal if you’re in or around Henley Beach. We often go when they have the schnitzel special where you can get a schnitty, chips and salad for $15! Service is ok but you’re at a pub by the beach so you’re not expecting anything too amazing. I avoid it at peak times because people can tend to get a bit rowdy in there and my husband may once have been told that he could be the dad of one of the Saturday night revelers which he found quite amusing. I prefer the casual dining area over the formal restaurant. There’s far worse places to eat in Adelaide.
Perfect Pub by the beach! This day the GF and I gave the same old rubbish in Glenelg a miss and went to Henley beach for a pint and a bite at the Ramsgate Htl. Having heard only a little about the place, we didn’t have any expectations. The weather was stunning so we tossed up between the street side bar tables and settled for the sunny courtyard out the back. It was fairly quiet the day we were there and the place looks like it is geared for the sports mad 10 pints on a Sunday arvo type of punter. The actual dining area resembles a country NSW RSL and could have some more effort put into it to making it a little more enticing. The court yard has a lovely shade cover and has been furnished and designed to handle the hot climate. We started with the pulled pork nachos, which were perfectly balanced between spicy, cheesey, crunchy and zesty with a hint of natural yogurt rather than drowning in sour cream. For mains I had the Ramma Dama Ding Dong (also known as a seafood plate) which was about the best pub seafood ive eaten in a long while, the GF and i debated if the squid was real, it was so tender. It came with a lightly beer battered piece of barramundi and a skewer of flame grilled prawns, chips and a very well balanced side salad that was the perfect mix of sweet, sour and crunchy to break up the crispy batter. The slow cooked beef rib sandwich comes out very simple with an accompaniment of chips on some grilled crunchy bread, the hero of the dish was the beef as it was sticky and moist with a beautiful smoke flavour you can only get from treating it to a smoke bath for a few hours. Price wise its in the mid to higher end for a pub, the pints were $9 each and our meals were about $25 each.I read some of the other reviews about the Pub and cant really understand how it went so wrong, unless someone has changed up the menu and chef recently. We will definitely be going back!!Check out my insta @smithbeardco
Shit service followed by shit food! They need to lift their game. It’s such a shame, it used to be good! There are plenty of other good places around Henley and Grange! Go somewhere else!
Ahhh The Rammy. We have eaten here a few times recently as have watched a few sporting events and had lunch while there. But we have decided no more. No more average tasting fish, no more soggy cold chips, no more burger that falls apart. Deep frier I’m guessing isn’t hot enough as you get oil logged chips where you stab your fork in and the oil squeezes out.Menu seems too large and all over the shop. Drop a few things off and try and get those done well. Not sure we will be back in a hurry.
