Unfortunately I was a little disappointed with the chicken breast. The presentation and serving size was poor. For $27 I expected so much more! And was really still hungry afterwards
What the heck happened here? I think I was unlucky enough to dine the day that the first year apprentice was running the kitchen. Truly terrible food. The poor waiter looked embarrassed as he processed my refund. Have dined here previously, can be a bit hit and miss, but my relatives like it.Today was a total dud. Lamb overcooked, dry and chewy. Salad was drowned in an almost acetone type vinaigrette. Beans were burnt and eggplant was a tasteless mush not meeting menu description. Absolutely disgusted at what they did with what would have been decent ingredients. I will pack myself a sandwich the next time my family insists I join them here.
Christmas Day food disaster! Our family went here on xmas day and have to say we felt robbed of our xmas dinner. Entree of prawns and prosciutto was good but the turkey main was just disappointing. The turkey was pulled turkey which was then presented as a block on the plate. A pea pure which was a very small wipe over the plates served with mixed lettuce leaves. So effectively we had turkey and lettuce for xmas dinner. Where were the roasted potatoes?? The steamed veg?? Steamed pudding was fine. Pavlova was really Eton Mess. I wouldn’t bother coming here again for xmas day. The cost $99 per head plus alcohol.
As a passionate food blogger, I do love my food. I know that The Kensi has been renovated so I was looking forward to trying out some pub food. There were quite a lot of people on a Saturday night. The menu certainly looked very enticing, however the service was very slow despite the number of waiters and waitresses on the floor. The food took a long time to arrive at our table. I saw the whiting on the menu with prawns and thought it would be a great combination to try. However the batter on the so called whiting was so thick, it was weird. It was more like prawns in thick batter fried with limited bits of fish meat. The crispy skin pork belly arrived and I could tell just by looking at the skin that it wasn’t crispy at all. It was flat and let’s just say fatty, I could literally squeeze the skin with my fork and not being able to see any crackling at all. To top off the pork was so dried and quite inedible. We also ordered a serve of roasted vegetables. The lighting in the restaurant was quite dark, but we could see that the vegetables were quite burnt. We took this to the waiter’s attention and he apologised and replaced us with a new one which was much better. However the pork was very disappointing and I took a bite and didn’t eat it. We explained this to the manager and she apologised and offered me only with a complimentary dessert. That was edible and quite delicious. We were charged with both mains and one dessert. I found it quite unacceptable, since I hardly ate the pork belly. It doesn’t matter how nice a restaurant looks, if a chef cannot deliver something that is on the menu, it is a crime that he or she has committed. I am afraid I won’t be coming back. daisyum.com
What went wrong.. I have been a patron of The Kensington for years, today took my elderly Mum for lunch, ordered the Sugar Cured Salmon for entree, the meal came out looking like a dogs breakfast. The haloumi was burnt, the asparagus was burnt, it looked like a child had assembled the meal. Grossly over priced, staff are arrogant, such a shame, it used to be my favourite place to eat.
Risotto served as main, cost $26.00, very small serve. I had a risotto served to me tonight on a flat average sized dinner plate, that was only about 5mm to 8mm deep & about 30mm in from the outer circumference of the plate, I had to eat incredibly slow because I would have finished my meal long before the other people I was dining with. I was shocked when I was informed the serve I had received was a main (not entre that was on the menu for $17.00) & was $26.00. The staff member was less than concerned that my thoughts were that the serve was extremely small & over priced. I have had many risotto’s while dining out & usually receive a reasonable size serve in a bowl, I left the Kensington hotel feeling hungry & cheated!! I won’t be going back & would never recommend it!!!
Rude staff, slow service. Like a lot of people on here I was very disappointed with the service and the attitude of the staff, in particular the manager, I think his name was Chris. Food came out slow and was average to say the least.
