Just out of the centre of Kingscote, located adjacent to the On The Run Caltex, fill up fuel, wash your car and get your fill of some fresh local seafood. The service was great, friendly and welcoming, ‘country hospital’ at its best. We were told which fish were the freshest and we had these in a fisherman’s basket, without the basket, on a large square platter. Good portions and nicely cooked fish! Second time here and would go again!
Located on the side of Caltex, you probably wouldn’t give it a second glance if you didn’t know to search out this seafood shop in Kingscote. When we first approached the shop we didn’t think too much of it and it did have a slight fishy smell to it when we entered. Don’t let that put you off and definitely worth the visit here. Friendly service awaits. There is a whole cabinet of fresh fish which can be cooked to order.We decided upon the Pack which included fish (grilled, battered or crumbed), chips, salad, lemon & tartare sauce). I originally wanted to get Flathead but they had run out. I settled upon the Grilled Whiting X-Large. Well cooked fish was tender and very flavoursome. Chips were nicely cooked and not greasy. The salad was fresh and had a nice dressing. I also got a Potato Cake and Crumbed Scallop. Both were tasty and again not greasy at all.It was so good we also got take away another night for dinner which we phoned ahead and picked up.Don’t let the location put you off as you’re in for a treat.

I thought the fish pieces were a little small. It was all tasty enough but I was expecting much better for local fish.
