Perfect spot for a relaxed lunch – or summer Saturday dinner – in this charming restaurant (it’s much more than a cafe)We sat in a shaded garden (trees and strategically placed umbrellas) and were served by the warm and knowledgable team. Service time is sometimes a little slow but the service standard made up for any minor delays.I see other – much earlier posts – are underwhelmed my flavour combinations – I can only recommend a return visit. Chef obviously know his stuff and we enjoyed excellent fish, interesting pasta and delicious salad that even the confirmed carnivore praised.Good choice of local wine to compliment the dishes. Prices very reasonable … Wish I lived closer as I’d go much more regularly!
Great French inspired food – one of the food highlights of our trip to McLaren Vale. Lovely view out onto the vines in a bright and welcoming atmosphere. Perfect for late lunch with a glass (or two) of wine.
Beautiful setting, delicious food and very friendly knowledgeable staff. We had the beef checks and fish of the day. Both excellent. We sat out in the garden and had coffee after. We will definitely be back again and look forward to bringing our friends and family in the future.
What a great experience we had! The food was really really tasty – Seafood Salad and Olive Bread with olive infused butter was a great way to get the tastebuds started. Meat was cooked perfectly to our requests – medium rare came out just that – Beef medallions and Lamb Strap were perfect and ingredient combinations were delightful. The 4 of us shared 2 desserts (semifreddo and souffle) just melted in the mouth. Coffees were a good strength and combined perfectly. The place was cool and very comfortable on quite a warm day and although there was a good crowd, the place wasn’t loud and didn’t echo like many others. Service was warm and friendly with a good sense of humour so remember to take yours along. Looking forward to our next visit – will take our four-legged friend along and have lunch outside under one of the trees or umbrellas. Thanks for a great time.
Absolutely delicious food for lunch; we dined on succulent buffalo, lamb and alpacca croquettes, ling fish, wild rice and a side dish of potatoes. I can honestly say the service was warm and friendly and the food was amazingly good. A really top spot!
Nice location but underwhelmed.. Beautiful and relaxing surroundings; somewhat disappointed in lack of flavours of the food, had higher expectations vs. price. meals were presented beautiful but its the flavour that u remember and go back for. Further disappointed in waitressing staff two girls served us with attitude and sarcasm when giving our orders and receiving food.
One of the very best!. Three mature and fussy ladies had a birthday lunch there this week. Au Pear provided its familiar high standard attention to every detail. The owner and staff are just lovely – attentive, real, and never intrusive, – nothing too much trouble. The food? to die for! we will be back!
