Been here a couple times. First time was mind blowing. Second time a couple of the dishes let them down, but for the most part it was still good. Service is always great, good value degustation.
Was a great experience. The cube then d’arrys for lunch, the lobster bisque entree is to die for. Only fault I had was found the duck main to be dry. But would most definitely return.
We were here for our 5th wedding anniversary and we tried the degustation. From memory we had 8 or 10 courses The lobster bisque was to die for Every course was delicious the staff provided a brief with each course Highly recommended this place views are magnificent
We sat on Pollys porch with a platter and had an enjoyable afternoon, the build your own option works really well as a concept. Unfortunately the staff were really disorganized tho with food taking around 45minutes and I dont see the point in taking a card to hold glasses when its not managed properly – i swapped my card for my license as anyone could have walked in and put something on my card!
We combined a cellar door experience with lunch at dArrys. We are already fans of dArenberg wines with a focus on the reds. DArenberg has such a wide range of wine that one must have a focus when tasting. We focused on the unfamiliar whites, fortified and a couple of reds. We enjoyed just about everything we tasted. The cellar door was very busy but there were sufficient staff to serve us all in a timely manner. The lady who looked after us was cheerful and friendly and provided lots of information about the wines. She was a long term employee – something you often dont get when tasting at larger wineries. As the tasting progressed she gained an understanding of our tastes and advised on our tasting selections. At the end of the tasting we had a provisional order list before moving to the restaurant. We ordered the degustation menu, one with wine pairing and one without. The wine pairing included a glass of sparkling wine and 8 half glasses of other wines – thats more than enough for 2 people, especially following on from a wine tasting experience. The menu also had a couple of choices and we were able to taste all the choices by varying the menu for each of us.The degustation meal was outstanding. Every course delighted us. There were interesting combinations without being overly complex. We skipped the additional cheese platter option – we were already very full! The meal took about 2 hours. Service was excellent. The waiting staff were constantly attending to us. They provided lots of information about the food and wines and were happy to chat with us and respond to questions. The wine pairing enabled us to fine tune our wine order. This was a truly exceptional experience which we intend to repeat next time we are in McLaren Vale.
We couldn’t fault this meal and the service. The ‘Lobster Medallion with Blue Swimmer Crab, Prawn Tortellini & Lobster Bisque’ was the stand out for me. In saying that, all dishes were delicious.
THE LOBSTER BISQUE. It’s perfect. I could devour multiple serves in one sitting. Follow it with the passion fruit souffl, its delicate and utterly divine. And order a wine flight, a good way to sample some of the beautiful wines on offer.
