Owners dont pay staff. There has been a lot of dramas over the year with this and it is well known within the community (and now it is starting to get out). He simply closes the business and re-opens.
Great food and service! Very well priced and good size portions. Drinks were very well priced and had many options. Would recommend to friends and family.
The restaurant was empty…. beside the 8 slightly intoxicated, wine tour girls who had occupied the 2 toilet cubicles to apply lip liner to their recently collagen injected and swollen lips.My partner and I waited half hour, had to go to the bar rather than be served to order our drinks… ordered 2 x sauv blancs which were yellow and off!! No table service to order our meals although we waited half hour. Meanwhile the 8 Barbie dolls at table 13 had ordered and take around 23 snapchats to pass time.We left at 245pm. I’d love to give you all a review on the food but hey, we left at the first sip of off wine! We then went next door only to be turned down because their kitchen closed 15 minutes prior which we would’ve made in time had we not been so deceived to expect some kind of service at Artel… we were mistaken.
Viewing this ‘resturant’ in the gold section of our entertainment book one would assume it would be great. Not reviewing the place prior to going due to this fact, was a rookie error… the meals were BAD. Hubs ‘medium’ steak was a lump of rubber and the ‘medium’ salmon was actually just a sealed piece with salty crushed nuts on top serving as dukkah. The texture was unpalatable- hence I left it. Pretty disappointing when a mostly uneated meal with a wine each sets you back $80 even with a voucher. My suggestion would be to avoid – hold your $$ and head on over to The Barn where your guaranteed a great meal and service everytime! Major bummer on what was otherwise a fantastic stay in McLaren Vale!
Notorious amongst locals for not paying their staff (I believe the business is technically bankrupt but still running) Went here with a Groupon. Very poor service, no drinks/water offered (despite being included in the voucher), meals were substituted without explanation, pretty decor but that is the only positive
Dont eat here. Please if I can help anyone save some money, go anywhere else. We used to love this venue…. it steadily went down hill and we stopped going. Tonight we tried it again after many many months hoping it had changed. Well it has definately changed but rather amazingly for the worse. The arancini balls were reheated. Theyre deep fried…. dont reheat in a microwave or leave until you cant chew through them. The haloumi wasnt cooked. We still had a dozen oysters to come still. We got up and asked to pay for what we already eaten and we were not interested in anymore uncooked food. Especially seafood. They laughed in our faces and said that we pay would need to pay the full bill or they would call the police.I am dumbfounded any of these people still have jobs or self respect. POOR FORM.THIS PLACE IS A HOLE AND THE STAFF ARE DIGGING IT DEEPER.In short. WHAT A JOKE!I wonder what the Health Inspector would think of this place.
