We turned up for a late lunch about 30 minutes before the kitchen closed and were really impressed by the flavour from the selection of dishes we tried. We had three vegetarian sides as all felt in need of some green these were packed full of flavours. The cauliflower hummus was exceptional. I had the 300g sirloin cooked medium rare with greens and mushrooms and they did amazing things with dried egg yolk crumbs. Two in the group had the chicken dumplings with filling that excited but both found the exterior a little dry and over cooked and both agreed that a steamed option would have been nicer. No room for dessert but my dad had a cheese board for one for his main anyways. Kitchen staff were amazing to watch plating up.
Should be 3.5 stars.Enjoyed every dish, except the charred corn but felt overall it was pricier than it should be for serving sizes. The corn especially. One corn for $11 and it was very bland.Chicken tarragon tortellini was nice. The mushroom broth was very earthy and warming on a cold rainy day. Tortellini would have been bland without it.Grilled beef salad had strong punchy flavours from the dressing.Kangaroo carpaccio didn’t have a lot of flavour but impressed that they made such a gamey meat so tender.Sardines snapper bisque had nice subtle flavours. Hand cut chips were excellent. Thick cut, great seasoning and came with beautiful chimmi churri aioli.Dessert was nice mocha Gatto.
Lovely location, dimly lit / romantic style with candles. Well presented. They were observant to the small details that mattered. We were given a complimentary starter of kangaroo and chicken. Unfortunately one small piece of the chicken was still translucent pink.the mains were served on large plates but the portion size was normal. chicken wrapped i prosciutto a fish dish and a share plate. the share plate had more then ample olives , a lovely lamb chop. overall the table consensus was that we were underwhelmed with the meals.Even the desserts although well presented were lacking. perhaps our expectations were higher based on their pricing
