One of our local hotels and seems to be fairly busy most of the time. Came here last night for dinner and had a lovely meal. Hadn’t booked and they were quite busy but they cleaned and set up a table for the 2 of us in less than 5 minutes. My partner chose the Steak and Stout stew (Irish), served with garlic mash potato and soda bread. It smelt divine and my partner loved it. I had the Beef Schnitzel, which was tender and not over cooked, served with the crispiest hot chips and gravy on the side. Service was fairly quick and also friendly, with average pub prices … not overly expensive. They do have a hot vegetable bar (4 different veg) and a salad area (about 5 different salads) and this is included in the price. You also get a fresh roll and butter with the meal. They also had live entertainment, which is a regular thing on Friday and Saturday nights I believe. It was a Graham Lawrence last night and he did have a lovely voice but it was just a tad loud for dinner time – in my opinion.Would definitely go back. Had a great evening.
Meals in bistro are ok. But for the first time in many years, we decided to have a meal in the front bar. Never, ever again! The beef burger…Patty was small and dry, someone forgot the bacon, the burger was bland and over priced (get a bigger burger for less and Brighton pub). Chicken burger…I sent out a search party for the chicken. Found it second bite. Very bland and again, well over priced. Get a much better (and spicy) burger at the Highway Inn, and its cheaper, and you get a pint! Chips were nice.
Foul. Went to the marion for dips and a few beverages and received thee wrose service ever!! First off they served people befpre me as I was clearly in front of them in the cue! Forgot to put order through and we waited 45 mins for dips then the duty manager dealt with it very poorly!! Will never be coming bsck here again!!
The WORST Hotel On Earth. This airport hotel plays loud music until 12:30 AM on Saturday nights and puts travellers in rooms by the music. We are going to have to sit up all night before our flight. You would be better off sleeping on the floor of the airport than to stay at this horrible, horrible, horrible hotel. I am a professional business traveller and have never stayed at a worse hotel.
Saw the Brewster Brothers (a band based on the guitarists from The Angels) last Sunday night and had a meal … Loved the show and great that the Marion is supporting live music … Food was very good also
Exactly how you think it will be :(. Had a work function at the Marion at lunchtime in December. Didn’t have ‘high expectations’ and these were met exactly – the unhelpful waitstaff you swear never never been out to a restaurant in their lives, the limp, boring salad bar, the bling of the pokies, the mass of pensioners seemingly enjoying their Seniors Specials unaware that they are just the same thing as the entrees listed in the regular menu. It was the cattle-call line up to order food and the unwillingness to serve a front-bar menu item in the bistro despite a legitimate reason why most of that menu was unsuitable for me that really irked. That said, when it arrived, the only dish on the bistro menu I could order safely (a pizza) was better than I thought it would be, pricy though it was as no adjustment was made because I couldn’t use the salad bar. Others at our table seemed to enjoy their dishes or something like, but no one was raving about anything and we were back at work within 90 minutes. Not recommended, 5 out of 10 – mostly for not poisoning anyone.
Not a gastro pub. Lunch at the Marion Hotel. What to eat; choose the Barramundi on a bed of thick hand cut seasoned chips and lemon butter. This set me back $27 and as the photo shows there were bugger all chips. Also when I read chips I thing nice and crispy and not what looked like boiled potatoes coated in oil. The fish was great but deserved better accompanyment than salad bar ordinaire. The service was quite random for a half full dining room with a reasonable number of staff on hand. We ordered coffees which (a) came not quite stone cold and (b) in two widely separate deliveries. Tip to management, when someone orders coffee they want it hot. If you treat this as a parmy with mush room gravy out of a tin pub you wont be be disapponted.
