I visited here with a friend for lunch and had the Special for $7.95 but upgraded to include the Dessert and I had to pay an extra $3 for the Aussie Topping on my Schnitzel which included an egg. We began our meal with Soup and fresh bread rolls, however I did have to ask at the bar for Soup Bowls and Spoons as there were none provided at the Soup/Salad/Veg bar and had to quickly return and have one of the spoons replaced as I was given a large Serving Spoon instead of a Soup Spoon. The Soup was Cream of Vegetable and on a really cold day the warm soup was appreciated however it could have done with more seasoning. I ordered the Aussie Schnitzel and my Lunch Partner ordered the Salt & Pepper Squid. Both meals arrived quite promptly. We both had some salad and veg and although there were not many choices it was more than adequate and as we had arrived at 12 Noon there was plenty of each as well as Gravy and a selection of condiments. My Schnitzel was of a good size for lunch and my Lunch Partner enjoyed her Squid and said it was tender. We really enjoyed our Pavlova for Dessert. We did notice that most of the clientele were Seniors but for the price WHY NOT!!!!!! I probably would not come here for a special occasion but for a good cheap lunch it was good value.
Took some interstate visitors for dinner. First experience with schnitzel for one of them. How embarrassing it was dry and disgusting. The other visitor was disappointed with his meal. A complaint was made but basically dismissed. My 79 yo mother phoned the manager and was promised a voucher in the post but ….. didnt arrive! Dont bother with this hotel, terrible food, service and no atmosphere.
I have been going here for over 20 years and remember when the staff and Chef use to be helpful and accommodating. Not recently. The manager is more concerned about her little skirt than pleasing customers. I requested my favourite dish that I found out once served to me they had changed. I asked the manager to change the spiced chicken for the normal chicken that has been in the dish for years only to be told that there would be a $9.50 charge. I asked for a refund and the manager said – not my fault it’s the chef. Service is quick because there are less and less people going for the awful service and after 20 years I am going somewhere else.
Very Thick Roast Beef. Went for lunch in the Bistro and ordered a MR Scotch Fillet with mushroom sauce. Steak was cooked well done and severely under seasoned. No effort was made in presentation or garnish staff generally unfriendly. Don’t recommend! Wont be back!
Absolutely Disgraceful Customer Service. Absolutely disgraceful place to be in, not only was the bar staff rude and obnoxious, they have no people skills. I asked if I could put my credit card over the counter, to start a tab (all good hotel have this option), when the aggressive bar lady said, No, you can’t, we don’t do eftpos and walked away. So, my question was answered…..but then she left me waiting while she served her regular customers. I said, I would still like a drink, then in a huff and disappointment, she reluctantly served me, and I paid in cash.It was my first time at the Emu Hotel and I can definitely say it was my last.
Absolutely disappointing… Won’t be back!. We dined in with our family for a celebration and was very disappointed with the meals. We ordered a mixed grill which was supposed to be cooked medium and was so over cooked it was like a leather boot and really tough to cut. The chicken nuggets on my child’s plate were the processed kind and didn’t resemble anything like chicken. For $8.50 I would expect the 5 nuggets served would at least be hand made… not hard guys! The fishermans basket was really a seafood plate (no basket) and everything had been pre-processed or frozen, deepfried and crumbed. Two tiny strips of calamari and frozen scollops the size of a 10c piece, there was more crumb than scollop. We vote value for money 2 out of 10 stars! 2 being the chips were ok!
