We moved to the local area around 10 mths ago and recently tried the Auchendarroch Wallis Tavern. My husband and I thought the food was surprisingly good and the service waiters were very friendly and didn’t keep us waiting too long to place our order. We lived in Melbourne for a few years and really appreciated the good cafes and restaurants there, so it’s nice to find a high quality place to eat here in the Adelaide Hills. The place looks very newly renovated and the staff were excellent, so I’m guessing it’s gone through big changes since the previous reviews that I’m reading just now. Great and we’ll be back.

Only good for schnitzels. Been to the Wallis tavern numerous times,normally for lunch specials or schnitzel night. The service is great if you get the right staff member,normally wait a while for drinks,food doesn’t take too long to arrive at the table.Schnitzels are generous in size but they are not the best in Mt barker. The salad bar is crap,tasteless,boring and definitely not the freshest. The menu needs an overhaul.
Would never eat here again. Service is hit and miss (mostly miss) and the food is terrible and has been for years.Such a shame as the beautiful setting promises so much more.
This place has improved nicely Dean and john have a fantastic rap-ore with the customers, the food is now great again. Well worth a revisit
