KENSINGTON PARK BRANCHItalian is my fave food so I was very much looking forward to going to N&I. I had already checked the menu on-line & my mouth was watering as we went in last Saturday night. My Beam & Coke tasted weird so I queried the waitress who seemed new – perhaps the Coke was a bit flat. The menu says most meals are served with bread & butter however, we were brought bread with oil & balsamic. The bread looked very good, like it was home made but it tasted sweet & doughy, a bit like under cooked cake. I didn’t like it at all but my sister loved it & asked for more. The chef visited most diners’ tables to chat though I think his time would be better spent in the kitchen. He pushed the beef cheeks but too late, we had already ordered.Sis had spag bol with dried chilli on the side & didn’t finish her meal. This is unheard of. She usually finishes hers & then helps him & me to finish ours. This speaks volumes to me. She said it was mediocre. He had the special pasta with prawns & delicious scallops. Three prawns & three scallops for $38. He took the excess pasta home.I had piatto di mare, also $38, with half a crumbed fish fillet which tasted good & fresh. Also lots of vongole & mussels, 2 prawns, wide calamari rings which were raw inside and a boring sauce.Overall, for the cost I expect better.
