Been here twice now and was delicious both times. Until then I hadn’t tried Afghani/ Persian food before but if this is anything to go by I have been missing out!At my recent visit we had the veggie Ashak (fried dumplings with drizzled with tangy tomato and yoghurt sauces ), Borani Banjan (melt in the mouth eggplant dish) and the Quabeli Uzbeki (tender, falling apart lamb with delicately spiced rice). All dishes were divine and difficult to pick a favourite.Although it doesn’t look like much from the outside – the service and decoration create a wonderful homely atmosphere.Highly recommend and will definitely be back.

Bit of an accident going to Rumi, we actually went to try the new Chinese Restaurant in the Norwood cinema complex, but couldnt get in! All good, wanted to try this place anyway. Nice dcor, friendly staff, although we found it hard to get their attention at times. Started with some dips, which were nice, a little under seasoned, but fixed that with extra S&P!We shared fried dumplings, absolutely yummo and a decent portion! Spiced lentil dahl, now peeps, this is the smallest bowl of dahl for $17 in the history of dahl ordering! Lentils are cheap! We only got a couple of spoonfuls each, full of flavour though. We also had the lamb shoulder, which is a very nice dish, a little dry and mostly bone, it was a small serve for $27? The Ghabli Palaw surrounding the lamb was delicious. The food is tasty, but portions are not large for the price. Would I return? Maybe for the fried dumplings!!!

Small place , but big warm friendly staff, very sincere owners who are in love with their work. We had soups, beautiful exotic flavors generous serving. Exquisite steamed lentil meat dumpingsFall of the bone Lamb shoulder amazing. A slow cooked chicken dish with fragrance rice , im dying of pleasure and then a spinach dish like no other and a Dahl to Dahl for ! This is another rare occasion where i cant fault the food. Thank you for being so passionate about your food

Dumplings and lamb shoulder were amazing. Delicious and fragrant not like the usual Asian and Indian restaurants- and they accommodated our tight time and made sure we got to our movie on time! I’ll definitely be back!

Rumi has a friendly family atmosphere but with the exception of the dumplings (fantastic!! So crispy and popping with flavour!) the mains were a little of a let down. Chicken curry bland and pretty watery, the lamb hidden in rice was mostly bones and somehow a little dry!? Spinach curry probably the best of the lot. Some of our table ordered icecream for dessert- very generous serves but the pistachio was horrifically coloured with a vibrancy likened to something of a nuclear power plant.

Lovely find in an unlikely place. Absolutely terrific for lunch catchup with friend. Food authentic. Very nice people and atmosphere. Very reasonably priced if you ask for the lunch menu.

Beautiful, friendly and authentic. The service was wonderful and we really enjoyed the Ashak dumplings and eggplant dish. It is a pity to see people line up at Grill’d across the hall when this local and family-run gem is here! Fantastic to try a new cuisine with much variety in the menu.
