Had the misfortune to order a breakfast at Uncle Albert’s Cafe this morning.Counter staff very friendly and I didn’t have long to wait but …..The rye toast was burnt with a smearing of what looked like margarine. three generous slices of bacon – two undercooked and one burnt. Scrambled eggs that tasted of wartime reconstituted egg powder; a slimy hash brown that tasted of oil and not potato. Lastly one very sad and lonely burnt half tomato. I ate three mouthfuls and gave the plate back in disgust. To be fair the young man behind the counter did apologise but the cook in the kitchen was quite combatative when I asked about the freshness of the oil. All in all a waste of $16.
Uncle Alberts has prime position in the heart of Norwood mall. The menu has a good selection of food to choose from at quite reasonable prices. Staff are nice and the food is pretty tasty even though it is quite simple. I prefer to sit outdoors and watch people going by and I tend to order an item off the menu. Milkshakes are great. A nice place for a quick bite to break up your shopping on the Parade.
