We like this place as the food is tasty, quick, affordable prices and convenient location. We also will order takeaway for a weeknight meal when we are too busy to cook. Nice Chinese restaurant

The food was okay, but service is terrible. I ordered some soup for take away. When I am collecting them from there, the owner was really rude. She rudely said, it’s not ready. Then I sat there waited for 20 mins after the time they told me it would be ready on the phone. I was completely ignored during that time. Finally I became really upset, walked away without getting the soup. I will never ever go there again and that is the last place I would recommend anyone to go.

Really tasty Yum Cha!! Came here 2day with a group o gals and boy did we eat! Had pork buns for the 1st time- alot of bread but so sweet and tasty, steamed pork dimsims were yummy, tofu rolls were great with chilli oil, but the steamed prawn dumpling were to die for! Deelish chrysanthemum tea too and excellent value for money. Service, though very minimal communication, was very efficient. 🙂

I am a frequent visitor to Yum Cha restaurants in Gouger Street so when I was told that the Payneham Chinese Restaurant offer yum cha, I was curious. It’s is out on its own in a small shopping center. The decor wasn’t impressive but this would be an indication they are more interested in the food. Good Asian restaurants are usually like this. Keep prices down, keep food authentic and the people will return. The yum cha menu had the usual suspects on offer but instead of buying from a trolley, we ordered from a menu. I think this was due to us getting there early. Luckily we know what we like and just went crazy. The food came out pretty quickly so we were finished within the hour. By the time we left, large groups were coming in. There were people turned away too who had not made bookings since it was so busy. So I recommend you book to be on the safe side

After hearing raves from a colleague of mine I finally decided to give this place a go. We went on a Sunday afternoon and they had yum cha, which was great as I was craving for a good yum cha.The setting was a bit weird as you would expect the stewards pushing the trolleys of food around, but not at the Payneham. You are given a piece of paper to order food from from the start, which was fine, but that meant you wouldn’t be able to review your order afterwards. Or add more food because you weren’t given a menu and therefore had no idea what to even order. We got all the standard yumchas – dumplings, the shallot cakes, the egg tarts, prawn balls etc. They were all pretty good but they weren’t great either. There are definitely better yumcha places out there, in particular in the city.Service was a bit dodge – we felt like they were always watching everyone suspiciously and were not attentive to everyone’s needs.Overall, the food wasn’t too bad but I would not be returning.

The best yum cha in Adelaide for sure. Everything is fresh & delicious. My family has a Cantonese/HK background and it is their favourite restaurant. We find the service efficient and generally friendly (whether I’m with family or Australian friends). I love their siu mai and har gow, the two yum cha staples 🙂 They do great noodle dishes and this is also our go-to restaurant for dinner. Food is always fresh, notably their fish is excellent whether whole steamed or fried in sweet corn sauce. Prices are reasonable and we have never been disappointed, even when it has been very busy. Definitely book if you want to have yum cha here on a weekend. It is a basic set up but it is always clean. Real Chinese restaurants never have fancy decor and if they do, you have to pay for it! Overall, our favourite Chinese restaurant in Adelaide.

Went out for a family birthday. The food was fantastic, very authentic and great prices. The service was very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Definitely will be back when we are next over
