Journey to Everest is a clash of Indian and Nepalese food, which is always a delight. I got the Beef Rendang and Cheese Naan. The rendang was lovely – it was the right amount of spice that sent me sweating! The cheese naan was good as well, it was nice seeing the cheese actually in the process of melting when it was presented. I got the mango lassi as well – which was an interesting version of your usual lassi – it was significantly more sour than the usual sweetness that you’d expect. I’m not sure if it was the quality of mango used or some other factor but I loved that it wasn’t overdosed in sugar.Overall, the food was good, but I had a few issues with the place – firstly the portions are really small. The cheese naans were cut up into really small slices and there wasn’t enough naan to go with the curry, which was a shame. Secondly the prices are waaaay too high for the portion size and quality of the food and establishment. I felt kind of cheated afterwards. Lastly, service can be a bit lacking sometimes, but the waitresses are extremely friendly. There’s just not enough people to go around to attend to everyone quickly.
Such honest, good quality food. I’ve been here multiple times and had their dal palak, palak paneer, chicken tikka, eggplant and lamb (so tender) curry. The garlic naan is amazing too! Service is just as you would expect from a family run business- extremely welcoming. A must try if you’re in the mood for Nepalese food down this side of town.
Food was amazing and service was good. We walked in without a booking, on a busy night, and they fitted us in no problem. Not a long wait for our food, the atmosphere was pleasant. About the food- we had Lemongrass Chicken, Saag Ghost, Naan Bread and Basmati Rice. The mains were tender and tasty, with a good combination of heat and balance of spices, and the bread and rice were the perfect accompaniments. We will definitely be back. We have found a new favourite!Recommend this place to anyone that loves Indian cuisine, we were extremely impressed.
Is not the same as it used to be.. Ordered a quick take away a few nights ago as we haven’t had their food in months and we were sorely disappointed. Could not taste any of the beautiful spices in the vegetable dish (it was bland) Meat was cooked well and very tender but lacked spices also (by spices I do not meant chilli or heat, I mean aromatic spices). The gravy in the dishes was lovely, full of all the goodness I expected, but did not save the dishes’ lack of spices. Cheese naan only had cheddar/mozarella (?) but no paneer, as it used to. Incredibly disappointed in that aspect.Service was mediocre, nothing special. Though we did have to wait more time for our meal (original estimate was 25 mins!!!) as they were understaffed for the night. I also have a feeling most of the original counter staff have moved on and have yet to be replaced. So maybe an extra waitstaff and a little more effort into creating a blend of spices that the palate can taste would greatly improve the quality, also using paneer LIKE IT IS ADVERTISED would be an improvement.Prices were a little high for the quality but is still better than the other local options. Would recommend Journey to everest if you are not willing to travel into the city or the eastern suburbs, but if you are I would recommend dining elsewhere.
Our first visit to Journey to Everest. We took two of our good friends to Journey to Everest!! & what a great experience, atmosphere fab, service spot on, attentive but not over the top!! Has to be the best Indian meal in a restaurant we have had since arriving here 5 years ago from the UK!! We will definately be returning, & was pleased to see Childrens menu too!!
Came in for a quiet dinner with the family and had a fantastic experience. We shared the Baramundi, the goat curry and a couple of chicken dishes, all were to die for! Had a beautiful blend of spices and heat. Also had papadums and naan bread which were also fantastic. Staff were friendly and service was excellent. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for out if this world curry.
Terrible food. I had to write a review as I have never had such bad food anywhere in Adelaide. I am a semaphore local and wanted to try it- lamb was like plastic and dal makni was like pure tomato paste. What a Shame, I have been to Nepal and they have an amazing cuisine this really taints it.
