Have been to Sotos several times, but not for a while. Yesterday (Tuesday) bought fish and chips for the family. What a disappointment, the chips were not up to par, very chewy, and the potato cakes were mainly Batter, not much potato, very disappointing.

Adelaide Institution?Travelling with hungry hyped tastebuds, we made our way to Semaphore on a suggestion of my fine foodie mate who, being a pre Semaphorian, frequented this iconic establishment many times over, so yeh, he knows what he is talking about! To begin with, we ordered our food and I mentioned to the semi friendly guy behind the counter, could please have some lemon with my order? That will be 80 cents please, fair enough, I thought, until I opened the bag and it was a tiny wedge of lemon! I mean, I get it that lemons can get expensive, but seriously, this is a fish n chip shop! (Personally, I believe that lemon should not be charged at all in these establishments). If you are going to charge, then put enough in the bag to at least cover 1 piece of fish. So, to cover both pieces of fish, I would say 4 wedges, thats $3.20? Add your extra tartare and peri peri sauce, which we got, can become expensive take away, lets not forget, thats exactly what it is and no more.Excitedly we took our paper packages to the shore, got our beach view posi and unwrapped our parcels like kids on Xmas morning! Dived into the chips first, ooh not good, undercooked still raw in the centre, soggy, tasted like old potatoes! Fish next (flake), so so oily, leaves an awful taste on my now sad tastebuds and the one and only wedge of lemon just didnt cut it.Sadly, wont be returning.
