Well, not bad. I will say very traditional shanghai food. We usually go there when we don’t wanna cook our dinner. A disappointment would be sometimes what s on menu but not in kitchen.
Unexpected suprise. My family and I decided to try this place out . Friday evening 8 pm and only one other table table was seated inside. The wait staff were smiling and seemed very pleasant. The service was great so far and they took our order fast (we were the only ones now in the restaurant). As I am a chef by trade I decided to go for a walk towards the lobster tank with my daughter and at the same time I could peek inside the kitchen to satisfy my normal curiosity with interests like cleanliness, staff ratios, storage etc . There were two noticeable staff one in a Chefs uniform and the other wearing an apron but a regular t-shirt underneath an apron. I admired how clean the benchtop was only to see the guy in the t-shirt with a smoke hanging out of his mouth standing over the top of prepared ingredients . Now I am a smoker as well but there is a time and a place to do it and on top of food or anywhere near a kitchen is a definitive no no. I asked the waitress who had just walked out with our food if she could get the chef or whoever was in charge in the kitchen to come out and talk to us and they refused. I was not sure how to take this. Having lived in Asia for some 10 years in different countries I have eaten many a meal from less hygienic places. The general kitchen in this place was quite clean . My family had already started to eat the meal and the waitress apologised I did not notice any ash in the food and from the looks of it the guy had just lit it up after our meals were cooked but it is still not the point . I would not recommend going there unless you check the kitchen for yourself pre ordering and post ordering with a couple more check outs . Shame I had to write such a negative review and from the smell and taste of the dishes it was superb and authentic food but that just doesn’t quite cut it !
