This place is stuck on the edge of a carpark – so it relies entirely on food and service quality – and that is where it excels. Best coffee, best baguettes and lots of vegetarian and vegan options…plus family run with care.

Have always liked the Essence, also under new management – great coffee (they use Bonsoy, my favourite soy milk) and really appreciate a few vegan options, really friendly staff and I like the makeover – thumbs up 🙂

The coffee at this place has taken the mantle of Sterling’s best and it’s not even close! Took me a few months of taste testing all the other coffee offerings around town before I stumbled across The Essence, and while I’m not saying the coffee elsewhere is bad it just doesn’t stand a chance. The staff are amazing, the kind of people who are so friendly that after a few visits you start to feel guilty about using your loyalty card, like you’re ripping them off when you go in to get your free coffee 🙂 This review is purely based on the cappuccino, the tofu scramble and maybe Adelaide’s greatest hospitality worker, so if you’re interest in any of those The Essence won’t disappoint.

Rudest service ever. I’ve never experienced ruder service, I am shocked that people like this are in business. The food is ok but definitely not worth putting up with such appalling service for. It’s not the first time it’s happened and they no longer deserve the benefit of the doubt.

The other reviews are spot on. Service is so RUDE! Why why why??? I have been coming here for years and as a local I love to support local business however It is so disappointing to be treated as an inconvenience when I come in to spend money. Customers are the reason you have a business. Treat them like crap and your business will begin to slide. It’s a small town. Lift your game.

The rudeness of the manager. I spoke to the manager of the Essence about my concern of his chairs blocking the walkway, the man was extremely rude and as a result of this rudeness I will not eat at this cafe while hei remains the manager.

Fantastic Baguettes, Friendly service :). I have been to The Essence many times and their food is always delicious, especially the baguettes. I find their service very good, always friendly and helpful. A great spot for coffee with friends or for lunch, at reasonable prices. One of my favourite cafes in Stirling.
