Went on such a busy day – no table service, which was fine, but be prepared as its a very popular spot when the weather’s nice. Staff were friendly but clearly under the pump. Okay onto the food – entree of arancinis and dumplings. Arancinis were good but lacking any big flavours, dumplings were not a hit – pork and chives seem like a winning combo but this was not the case. Dry, minimal taste, could’ve gone without. Main meals however were pleasing all round – salt and pepper squid (a classic) squid was tender and perfectly cooked with no chewy membrane bits, salad was fresh and crisp, chips were good but would’ve rather more salad. Other half had the rotisserie of the day which was a massively generous serve (we were all very jealous) of porchetta with roast veg and carrot puree. Delicious but far too much for one person. Love the addition of the gin bar, but would avoid on a public holiday due to 15% surcharge ($36 for 2 gins with tap soda water instead of tonic, yikes). Would I go again? Sure, if I was invited. Is it high on my list of choices in such a beautiful area? No.

3.5. Had a weekday lunch in the bistro and it’s a lovely, relaxed venue. There was a good selection of beer and wine, and the food was pretty good. Pork and chive dumplings were really nice whilst the peking duck spring roll was ok. My wagyu burger was good, although the patty could have a been a little more salty I thought. Nice place to stop by after some wine tasting in the Adelaide Hills.
