My partner would give it. 4.5 but for me it was a 3.The fire was on which was lovely, a bit heated for those seated close by however on a cold and windy night it was a blessing. No bread to start unless you paid for it.Prawn and shaved scallop, pork belly entree ($22) was nice but very small with one prawn. The paella (choice of veg, meat or seafood – I had seafood) is listed an an entree but you can get it as a main. My main came with one or two prawns, two muscles and various fish. It was not great value for money and tasted more like seafood risotto. The lamb – rump and pressed shoulder – my partner loved this but as you can see from the pictures it was borderline raw. Each to their own; I’m aware lamb should be pink but you can make your own judgement.Wines $14 a glass with a very standard pour.Lovely service.

Will come back for:+ Grilled Haloumi+ Grilled Lamb Rump+ Kangaroo FilletWe were in the Barossa Valley area this weekend, and needed some dinner, drove by this place we thought looked interesting and thought we should check out. Luckily, we were able to get a spot and the staff kindly accommodated us. We ordered a bit of everything to share: Beef tartare (this was tender but needed more seasoning), the grilled haloumi (delicious and morish), the kangaroo fillet (cooked to perfection and delicious), the bird of the day (duck breast – unfortunately, the skin was not rendered through so a little chewy), the lamb rump (super tender and well seasoned), and to finish off the dessert platter and the cream brûlée. Overall, there was a few hits and misses here. Service was great, and super quick given the amount of guest in the restaurant and the ambience was very pleasant. Prices is fine dining for sure, and you do get that in some of the dishes we ordered today.

POOR SERVICE Was looking forward to eating at this establishment as it seemed to have quite a good rating, we’re highly disappointed!! Steak was nicely done, but at the prices they charged was extremely small, we eat out frequently and can definitely say it was bareky even 200 grams. The main meal came with sweet potato purée we ordered sides they didn’t come until 20 min after main meal which was really disappointing as we spent $135.00 and we’re still hungry, quite dissapointing really, no apologies, or discount. High end prices but not high end service ☹️

3.5We chose 1918 as the restaurant to have our last meal of 2018. They had a special menu on with four courses and a glass of bubbles for $95 pp. this lovely 100 year old cottage with pleasant gardens took on the 1920’s with staff dressing for the period. The menu looked good with a range of canapés, selection of entrees, mains and desserts. Canapes were somewhat underwhelming with pork belly being quite dry and ceviche being quite bland. Moving into entrees though and most enjoyed their choice. I had the pressed lamb which came on a small wild rice salad. I couldn’t say no to the 300g Sirloin which came with a garlic mash. They didn’t offer any other choice other than having this cooked medium rare which I thought quite odd even though this is normally how I have my steak anyway. I liked the dish but would have liked the option to have greens for the table as this dish seemed to be lacking a green element when presented. My steak had a sizeable chunk of fat on the side which didn’t present well either. Taste wise and enjoyable dish although the capsicum sauce was just a thin smear on the plate and did little for flavour. The duck breast was well rendered but not crispy and the salmon steak was the one dish that we wouldn’t have changed a thing on.Desserts were good with mist opting for lemon tart.Staff seemed stressed tonight. Our wonderfully dressed waiting staff member seemed to not be coping with the number of people dining and in particular the questions on food being asked of her by the table beside us. I guess it was a non standard menu but staff should still be able to explain the content.Overall less than perfect but we still had a good night in a wonderful location. Would be interesting to compare to the regular menu as this New Year’s Eve limited menu didn’t give us the wows we were hoping for.

Have to say the food was good and the wine very tasty. It was the end service of the waiter (elderly guy – receding hairline) that has made me write this. He was fantastic until obviously realizing we were not providing a tip. Cold, dismissive and reduced our experience to one that I would not recommend
