The drive up to the estate is beautiful, an old barn turned into wine cellar which is pretty much in the middle of nowhere.  It was quite busy when we arrived with different tour groups, even though it was busy my partner and I were given the best service.  We could sample any of the lovely wines on the wine list, at no cost – unlike some other popular wineries where you have to pay or feel guilty for even asking to try the wine! Deb, our host was wonderful with a lot of knowledge on the different varietals.  Some wines were hit and miss, the ones that were a hit.. well they are currently in transit back to Melbourne! I also had a toastie here which was really yummy, was nice to eat it outside in the lovely garden

Warning- this is not a place for eaters who like choice! The only options are a platter, or the vegetarian version of this. We ordered two $30 platters between a group of 5, including two teenage boys. Consisting of fresh bread, crackers, Brie, cheddar, met twist, cured meat, almonds, olives, pickles and two condiments, a pear chutney and beetroot relish, it was more than enough! Standouts include the crackers, beetroot relish and mettwurst, but it was a simple and elegant lunch which was good value for money.

Cruising around the Barossa is a dream come true. The names of the vineyards are familiar and hallowed by wine lovers near and far. You thank your lucky stars having the opportunity to visit places like Seppeltsfield and Penfolds. As we finished our tasting at Penfolds we asked where nearby we could get a platter to graze on and see out the afternoon. One of the staff at the cellar door mentioned they go to Peter Lehmann on days off for this reason and we immediately headed there.

Nice big cellar door and lawns. Platters and catering have always been simple but delicious. Lovely staff.
