The chicken schnitzel was absolutely disgusting, it tasted like old chicken that was warmed in the microwave. The hot chips were also very dry and tasted like cardboard. I don’t usually complain about food or have very high standards, however I was so disappointed with the VPS cafe food that my mother and I left straight away after one bite. Definitely won’t ever be going back.
Have stopped at this cafe several times, finding their service excellent on each occasion. The food options on the notice board are clear and easy to read, with competitive prices. The table configurations are changeable, which helps if you have a pram or children. The coffee on each occasion has been consistently good. They supply free papers, the Burnside Village provide a free WiFi service, which all helps to having a nice relaxing experience. Very popular and that is very understandable.
Very ordinary. We had lunch at VP’s a few weeks ago. We were very disappointed. I ordered a baked potato with salad. The baked potato was half a potato with a globby corn and cheese mixture as the topping, not at all how I like my baked potato. The salad was like someone had separated the ingredients of coleslaw, laid them next to eat other and then poured a lot of mayonnaise over the top. It wasn’t very nice. My partner had a chicken schnitzel meal but he said it tasted like his schnitzel had just been zapped in the microwave and he wasn’t very happy it.I was also unimpressed when I asked a waitress what kind of herbal teas they had, she told me to look myself and pointed, but unfortunately a view of the teas was obscured by other items sitting in front of it. I mentioned that I couldn’t see all the teas because there were things in front of them but she didn’t seem concerned at all. I tried to move the items without disrupting the bench and saw one called ‘Champagne’ tea. I asked what the Champagne tea had in it and the waitress had no idea and didn’t seem very interested in finding out for me either. I had a Diet Coke instead. That said, it was a very busy cafe with a lot of older clientele, so maybe there are other items on their menu that are way better than what we had? I certainly won’t be going back to find out!
