Encounter Restaurant has changed. They now have a new a la carte fine dining area where most if not everything is prepared in house. House made sour dough, house churned butter with Murray river pink salt. Good? Yes, I thought so too. Among the orders we had Smoked Pork Hock & Pickled Garlic Croquettes (the trendy thing on menus at the mo), Kangaroo Island Scallops – get this, with wasabi pea puree and yuzu butter, ah yum! Last and definitely not least was Willunga Zucchini Flower filled with eggplant and thyme. The scallops were fantastic, the addition of the fennel flower was genius. For a tiny little flower it packed a lot of flavour. If you would like to read the rest of my review, go to my blog below.
Conveniently located at the Victor Harbor Hotel on the foreshore. Bookings recommended. Restaurant has both a carvery and a la carte menu. Basic pub food available a la carte. Kid friendly and pleasant staff.
The waiter is so unfriendly, and manager is also quite not professional. Got sth bad in the salad, alive ones! And the manager even throught it is normal???????! What????????Both of them were not looking at you when serving the customers, what are you looking for???????!?? Don’t wanna say sth bad. But looks like one of the signature hotel/restaurant in Victoria harbour, so disappointed! Shame in this!!!Two days’ best memories at Adelaide destroried!
Not very accommodating. Dined here on a recent trip to Victor Harbor. I have particular dietary requirements and upon looking at the menu online it seemed to suit, so when I ordered grilled fish and lots of veg I expected a bit more than one small bit of broccoli, cauliflower, carrot, zucchini and squash. The waiter even apologised for the lack of veg stating that was all the kitchen would give to him. Needless to say I left hungry. Perhaps if such requests can’t be met because of an additional cost staff could mention it, I would have been quite happy to pay extra for a bit more food.
Great Food. The carvery is a cut above the rest and the a la carte side is great as well. It’s the kind of place you could take your elderly mother who has very traditional food tastes and loves a carvery but at the same time find something interesting on the menu for yourself.
