Disappointing!I don’t mind waiting 40 mins for my meal. But charging me an extra $2.50 to add some Chinese brocolli to my dish and then there only being 3-4 pieces added isn’t great! Also, the lunch specials are usually just smaller portions of whatever you’re ordering. Not value
The port road restaurant is terrible we have dined there a few times and it has always been the same. The food is frozen food out of a packet chucked in a frying pan and then served up on a long wait and way over priced. The service is terrible at one point we had to go up to the person on the cashier who was sitting on his phone and asked to be served. In saying all this the one In the city is better service and faster but again frozen packet food and over priced.
We went here for my birthday dinner on a Thursday night and it was pretty quiet and one of the aircons weren’t working so it was really hot given that it was in the middle of summer. For some reason all the smaller tables people were actually sitting at were set up underneath the aircon that wasn’t working and the working aircon was on the otherside of the room with a whole bunch of larger empty tables. The staff didn’t come and clear our table for the two or so hours that we were there, which was odd given that they weren’t busy.A large portion of the food was deep fried I found, which personally isn’t ideal. Fresh Asian food is the best, but it was great to see so many vego and vegan options. I ordered the sweet and sour tofu and they do not skimp on the tofu like most places! I would probably prefer more veggies though as the veggies they put with the dish were only cucumber (which I find is odd to include in a stir fry? and I think it was capsicum, I can’t remember and then pineapple also. More veggies would have been great! My non-vego/vegan boyfriend ordered a burger and he really liked it!Not the best, but it was okay! I would probably come back at some point and order something else. laikenrichelle.weebly.com
Zenhouse on Port Rd is every bit as amazing as the Bent St restaurant.Like Bent St, it’s a casual, no-frills kind of dining experience, so don’t expect waiters to stand there pouring you water with one hand behind their back. It’s not that kind of place. It’s the kind of place you feel welcome. You don’t need to book, you know there’ll be a seat for you. And you can look like crap (thankfully, because it means I can go there on a Sunday night when I’m too lazy to cook). The food is always delicious and the service is friendly and the whole place is very calm and chilled. A zen house indeed.
I’ve found this place to be okay. Not great, but not terrible. Foods been satisfying but not spectacular. The big fault I find is the decor. White painted walls, a bit of ambient lighting and a table cloth would do WONDERS for this place. Instead its got zero charm. The Ethiopian place next door is a good example of doing a lot with very little effort. Disappointing as there aren’t that many vegetarian only places around, but feels like an RSL.
Amazing food, great service, wonderful iced teas, relatively inexpensive. My husband and I spent $40 here and got two iced teas and five yum cha dishes and both of us left feeling full. Will definitely go back again!
Table service was really quite bad but staff were friendly and food came out quickly when we finally got the attention of the staff so we could order. We were seated by a small child, not offered bowls or water and had to ask for these. VSFC was good as always and spring rolls were crispy and tasty. I didn’t really enjoy the mains, Mee Gorang was not Mee Gorang (hokkein noodles, sweet and sour sauce, peas and corn???), the ginger not chicken didn’t taste of ginger at all and the mushroom had so much batter that it made me feel ill. All in all average experience and would not rush back.
