Great service, food bit of a let down. Ordered the mixed grill, bit of a wait for It to come out. Unfortunately the pork sausage was bit on the undercooked side and the rump steak was missing altogether. Quick chat with the waitress and the meal was redone. This time with all ingredients. Pork sausage very tasty, the rest a standard pub mixed grill. Good work by the waitress even gave us a free drink to make up for the inconvenience.

The last few times Ive been here its been terrible. I honestly have only gone back because its close, but not anymore. The place was quiet, so we got a table and ordered pretty quickly. Went to get some bread from the salad bar, it was STALE. Thats ok, we ordered garlic bread. 15 minute wait and the garlic bread came out COLD, and seemingly without garlic. I could not taste anything but butter on cold bread. So after that disappointment, we waited for dinner. Waiting, waiting, waiting. Finished my drink and the ice that had melted in my glass, waiting, 40 minutes later we finally get our meals. Not sure why we had to wait 60 minutes from the point of ordering before we got 2 beef schnitzels, maybe they had to kill the cow?? Who cares, Im starving now, my food is in front of me. Why do places put the schnitzel on top of the chips then cover the schnitzel in gravy? What if I wanted gravy on my chips? I have to lift my schnitzel, move the chips, then dip them in to the gravy. Oh, this gravy was congealed too, so not easy to dip my chips in to. Right, time to eat my schnitzel. Oh dear, the knife is so blunt and the schnitzel is so tough, I can barely cut it. When I finally do cut it, its so chewy. Appetite ruined.Im only giving a score of 1 because the staff were friendly.
Went here for a birthday celebration as we had done once before. Should have remembered that last time we were disappointed, because this occasion was even worse. Meals were poorly presented, my kangaroo was a mere 6 small pieces of steak squashed into a bucket load of mash, with a lather of plum sauce plopped on the top. $26 for this no way! So I complained, which is a rarity for me, and had my meal replaced with a Fisherman’s Basket with flathead, which my wife had ordered, it seemed OK. Hostess was a bit offish, tried to explain reasons why, without really making an apology. Offered a replacement meal. After a while my replacement meal arrived, no flathead just a huge greasy piece of unmentionable fish, only 2 prawns, she got 4, 2 thumping pieces of toughish calamari, well I think that what it was, and overcooked chips, not a happy chappy, should have complained again, but enough is enough! One good thing about his place however is the salad bar, very nice selection. Won’t go here ever again, despite having fun with our table friends, we’ll go elsewhere.
Ive been going to the Windsor with a group of friends for years and yesterday was the first time we were disappointed. The salad bar is not as nice as it used to be. I booked weeks ago and asked to be near the salad bar as one of the group is in a wheelchair. When I complained to the girl behind the bar she wasnt that interested and I guy in black who I assume is the bar Manager heard what I said and he wasnt that interested either. The food was nice but was not worth the price we paid. So we will be going to the O G Hotel from now on. Such a shame that such a nice Hotel is going down hill. One time Sunday lunch was always busy not the case yesterday. I certainly will not be telling anyone in the future to go to the Windsor Hotel. We travel down from near Gawler so its not like we live locally.
Unfortunately the worst pub meal i have ever had. The only thing worse about the visit was the rude and disinterested manager. 1out of ten …we had a party of 8 and no one wanted to finish their meal. Went on cheap snity day …cheap.?..cheap and nasty.
First time patron. Was overcharged by the cashier and had to bring it to her attention. Waitress got lost and couldn’t find our table – could see her walking around with our meals and had to wave her over to us. They forgot to bring our drinks and I had to ask twice until they served them. Menu food average. Salad bar slightly above average. Their signature dish – the ‘Windsor stack’ – the lettuce was limp & the pappadams soggy. Physics dictate why you don’t put lettuce on pappadams and then top the lettuce with hot chicken. Unlikely to return.
