Monday night dinner??. After reading reviews about this restaurant and given I am staying here for the first time ever – I decided to give it a whirl?!The menu reads very well….but am sad to say – it doesn’t flow through…..AT ALL.I had the entree taster plate, with 2 oysters (which were the best thing about the dish), one deep fried scallop, which didn’t taste fresh…..some very odd coloured/textured smoked salmon which looked like it had been left standing too long, so had a dried dark colour about it, a small piece of poached fish which was tasteless (?) and some salt and pepper calamari that was almost a grey colour and tasted like it had been fried a few times ago……..the Aloili sauce was good though…..?!!so I ordered an entree serve of the Chef’s seafood chowder – (I can make better myself?!)…..very ordinary – quite tasteless – with lots of chunks of something that added nothing in terms of flavour…i i think it might have been maybe sweet potato – which was supposed to look likes salmon??? lots of parsley – a couple of withered up shrivelled mussels in their shells which were inedible – I ate a few mouthfuls and then just had to chalk it up as a bad experience……so I wont be eating there ever again. The waiters were very nice people and apologetic – and of course it is not their fault – i think I overheard the usual chef was not working tonight….maybe that explains it – but seriously disappointing! and not the standard we expect from Beautiful Tassie!!
Overpriced average steak. Ordered the scotch fillet medium rare, came back very rare, rather tasteless and gritty. For the price they are charging I expect it to be a very nice meal. Better off finding a good pub
Great lunch. Decided to go Salamanca Inn for lunch, had a voucher for half price Blue Eye Trevalla with Chips and Salad, liked the presentation and the meal was really nice, and didn’t look much at first, but was very filling, would definitely go back again, lovely atmosphere to.

Great service#good serves. Fantastic service, by a waitress by the name of Stevie G, food was delicious with decent size and quick service,
Average. Food was all overlooked, not particularly tasty. Bouillabaisse served with empty muscle shells and Tasmanian salmon tasted like leather.
Hearty. Somewhat misleading name of the resteraunt implying a meat plus seafood grill. There was no grilled seafood in sight it all seemed to be deep fried – not a problem but a little disappointing because we were in search of a chunk of local fish or crustacian char grilled with a bit of lemon… Another slight disappointment was the although we were early, they had already run out of oysters which feature prominantly on the menu. The food we did have was good quality, stock standard, hearty sized and rich. The resteraunt is part of a hotel so expect that environment, service was excellent. A nice touch was the free with main course salad buffet in case you needed some more green. Seafood chowder was good, baked salmon was delicious but didn’t need the Camembert
