It is a small place with simple fittings but don’t judge the Restaurant by its looks. The service was pretty good even though there were only 2 servers. The menu was small but there was a special menu board. We ordered the items on special and they were delicious especially the Goma tofu which was not ordinarily tofu. It was made of sesame seeds and the texture was a little gelatinous and wobbly.
Cheap and cheerful, neatly positioned just off the main drag, Three offered a simple and relaxed vibe and menu – typical of an authentic Japanese experience, felt like I was back in Osaka! I tried the saki and tempura which was delicious. Great beer list. Recommend for a casual night out.
This place deserves a much higher rating, every dish was spectacular. The closest quality of Japanese food I have had before this was in Japan. This place is phenomenal and make sure to try their Hot Arugawa sake. It is the smoothest sake I have ever tasted. Definitely coming back here the next time I am in Hobart! Also, Tetsuya of Tetsuya’s in Sydney ate here last month so that’s saying something.
Was visiting from Sydney with the girlfriend and thought to give this Japanese place a shot as I was craving some good quality Asian and from the first bite to the last it was extremely difficult to wipe the smiles off our faces. Easily the best Japanese restaurant I’ve been to in Australia. Great service and timing and sequence of dish arrivals based on what you order is executed masterfully. An added bonus is the amazing selection of sake. All hand picked from the owner’s hometown of Saga, these ore of the highest quality. If you’re local or visiting with a keen taste for authentic Japanese, give this place a go and you won’t be disappointed 😉
The food was delicious and authentic. Fresh and immaculately presented sashimi, great range of sake with tasting notes, friendly service. Loved it. Will definitely come again next time I’m down from Melbourne.
Best authentic Japanese restaurant in Hobart. Went on the opening night and again last night and they have sorted out a few teething problems. They have a great sake selection that the staff know all about. The food is simple yet tasty. Pickled veg, steamed veg, rice balls and yakitori were all very tasty and reasonably priced. A must if a fan of Japanese or if u want to try something different.
Outstanding. Surprised by the actual Japanese-ness of this place. Even down to the hand selected crockery and glass wear. Well informed, professional, pleasant staff. Set menu was amazing (and great value) sea urchin roe custard thingy- just yum. Can’t wait to eat here again & remember to book!
